Probably; afterall he was wearing those weights even in the forrest of death; that was like a war between kids; people are dying there too but he just did not gave a f**k. He might see the war as a training opportunity for defeating Neji or surpassing Gai, that's who he is...

Not so sure about that; considering Gai is the slightly (?) advanced version of him, and now the Kyuubi cloak is on him - he should be recovering any bone or tissue damage - much like how Naruto did against Haku and the ice jutsu scene.

Do point out if I'm mistaken about this fact though~
