I personally have a very high opinion of him. He'd have killed both Lee and Gaara, and subsequently, probably even Naruto (though plot won't allow that), had he not been suffering from Itachi's Disease (also known as Kishi's Lack of Ideas).

The guy had a body tougher than effing steel, and wasn't beaten by anybody in life or death.
