Before I say anything I know jiraya is gone but I've been repeating all of the episodes and I saw something.
Before Jiraya was in the series orochimaru was at the chuuin exam he was at the preliminaries at the forest of death and put a seal on Naruto just for fun after surveying the forest of death and the other thing, before going ahead its look like this is off topic but its an important part to my thread.
So searching for a teacher Jiraya appeared from no were and the episode takes a wall but he teaches Naruto how to walk on water.
So now fully starting my question (Did jiraya and Naruto meet by chance or choice)
Ok we quickly see jiraya know who Naruto is ,as he is trying to control his chakra to walk on water, he first notices something when seeing Naruto walking on water. We then have a full confirmation that he
knows who he is.
At some point in the episode he notices some weird overlaying of seals on naruto's stomach and know it Orochimaru's work and breaks the seals.
Now on to business: Jiraya was found research but not for his novel but something different he was researching on orochimaru to know more about akatsuki and maybe he knew that orochi was at Konoha so he tracked Naruto to protect him. I know right now you think im crazy but hear me out.
Jiraya was there when he knew kushina and minato were having a baby and calling him Naruto the name of the character in his novel plus he knew that kushina's last name was uzumaki. But wait this puzzle continues. When hearing the name of the baby he said " That makes me Naruto's godfather " , when minato & kushina died there's no dough jiraya knew and that the host of the jichuriki is Naruto jiraya could have looked out for Naruto in a ill kill anyone who tries to kill you kinda way.
If Jiraya was doing research for a novel then why didn't he just keep quite and cary on with it then to revile himself to some random kid and remember the what the Toad Sage say to jiraya ( forgot what it was) but it said jiraya's student with minato died and nagato evil in a way, Naruto was left and jiraya knew but didn't tell Naruto the truth about his parents maybe he thought Naruto wasn't ready yet.
