Is it possible Itachi had a son? I remember reading somewhere that he had a girlfriend before the Akatsuki, would make sense his son could try avenge him if he was kept away from the truth?

I think Itachi and Shisui were up to adopt a kid. There was some serious bromance going on there but society back then needed a change, to be more open, so they trained on the top of a mountain, broke back mountain, while making plans of a day where their love would be accepted by the Uchiha clan.

I think he is a subject of Orochimarus, that's just my thoughts. Rremember this Gaiden is a spin off of the original series and that they have said it will not be running for long a long time; so i doubt it would be anything as deep as making him Itachis kid.

I'm interested to see who he really is.

The kid seems like hes slow. So I'm gonna say that he was some sort of experiment or is under genjutsu.
