So Itachi said to Sasuke that he would always love him no matter what path he decided to take but isn't that pretty stupid since Itachi dedicated his entire life to the hidden leaf and even stopped Kabuto and undid Edo Tensei for the sake of the leaf and the Shinobi world. So wouldn't he have not wanted Sasuke to seek revenge on the leaf? Otherwise Itachi just went to all those efforts for nothing. So why would he not care what route Sasuke took?

He did everything for the leaf so if sasuke destroyed the leaf like he originally intended to when he found out the truth then what itachi did for the leaf would have been for nothing. He probably does care what path sasuke takes but he will support him either way

I'm sure Itachi wouldn't have been happy if Sasuke chose to continue on that path. Itachi tried to use that crow on Sasuke to make him "protect Konoha" no matter what so that kinda shows he didn't even trust Sasuke to make the right decisions on his own

I think that deep down, he knew that Sasuke would take the right path. He just expected Naruto to be the one to TNJ Sasuke, but ironically, it was actually Itachi himself/Hashirama who did so. Also, Sasuke told Itachi atleast 4 times before Itachi managed to stop Kabuto w/ Izanami that he would destroy the Leaf no matter what Itachi wanted or said. So Itachi probably just thought that since he was already a dead man anyway and going back after the Edo Tensei was stopped that he no longer had any place in meddling w/ the living world's affairs other than stopping the Edo Tensei and at that point it would be useless to threaten Sasuke/advise him against it because Sasuke said that no matter what, he was doing it. But Itachi had faith in Naruto and his TNJ so he didn't really believe that Sasuke would ever get around to destroying Konoha. Also, Itachi probably realized that it's highly improbable that Sasuke as one person would have the power to go against Naruto, Kakashi, Sakura, and many other shinobi all at once and manage to destroy Konoha. Konoha has a tendency to go through a ton of catastrophes and yet still remain standing. Pain literally decimated the village and it was rebuilt in a matter of weeks and everyone lived. Madara attacked for years and Hashirama always beat him. Village was rebuilt after Oro attacked. And the list goes on and on and on. Konoha will always exist, it is literally impossible for one shinobi to destroy every single individual there. What is Sasuke going to do? He doesn't have the destructive power that Pain had and if all the shinobi ganged up on him, he's be severely outmatched and wouldn't stand a chance. So Itachi just said what he wanted to say and showed Sasuke the truth about the Uchiha and their stupid little coup. Then he told his little brother what he always wanted to tell him (that he would always love him no matter what), gained some closure, and left like a bad*** for the second time.

no. itachi is a fool who thought that torturing sasuke would make him turn out just dandy in the head when no one sane would think that. or commit the torture in the first place.

also what do you call the "right path"? because im fairly sure that konoha is just as corrupt and decadent as the other nations. the right path is protecting the civilians of the world as a whole like naruto is trying to do.

Itachi dedicated his entire life to the hidden leaf and even stopped Kabuto and undid Edo Tensei for the sake of the leaf and the Shinobi world.
funny since doing that unleashed madara and made things ten times worse for the alliance. itachi wasted his time on what amounts to obitos subordinate. but then again nothing itachi ever does is tactically or morally intelligent.
itachi dedicated his life to self serving torture and murder and supporting akatsuki. he betrayed konoha several times and would have left them to to be killed by sasuke or obito had hashirama not stepped in to stop sasuke.
So wouldn't he have not wanted Sasuke to seek revenge on the leaf?
if that were the case he would have stopped sasuke being poisoned into embracing hate and revenge in the first place.
He did everything for the leaf
no he didnt. he left konoha defenceless and ensured its destruction
then what itachi did for the leaf would have been for nothing.
ITS ALREADY FOR NOTHING. just because sauske wasnt the one to burn konoha down doesnt mean itachi hasnt failed his mission.
plus why go to lengths to defend such a corrupt place anyway. why not leave and go defend some innocent minor merchant country like the land of waves. i like how every itachi and danzo fan think that just because you claim to want to serve the leaf that automatically makes you a great guy. well it doesnt.

I think that deep down, he knew that Sasuke would take the right path
well he hasnt so thats a fail. as i said the right path isnt trying to build konoha back up under your rule. its accepting the world and then trying to protect civilians as best you can.
sasukes still the ass hole he always was.
ironically, it was actually Itachi himself/Hashirama who did so
so sasuke is slightly less of an evil douche so that qualifies as TNJ?
itachi hismelf is the one who poisoned sasuke into his initial turn to evil. so yeah itachi can burn in hell for doing such a horrible crime to his own brother's mind.
So Itachi probably just thought that since he was already a dead man anyway and going back after the Edo Tensei was stopped that he no longer had any place in meddling w/ the living world's affairs o
lol so saving naruto and bee isnt meddling with the world?
But Itachi had faith in Naruto and his TNJ
no he didnt. he believed to his core sasuke wasnt going to change and that the world was about to collapse into another war vs his brother. if he had faith in naruto he wouldnt have said a damn thing to sasuke and he wouldnt have tried to pass him off as an annoyance when they first met. faith in naruto means trust and itachi has no trust for anyone or else, he wouldnt have charged off to face kabuto alone. pointlessly btw since the real threat is obito.
he didn't really believe that Sasuke would ever get around to destroying Konoha.
so some dumb belief that naruto can both fight and beat obito and get around to stopping sasuke at the same time, justifies endangering millions of people?
Also, Itachi probably realized that it's highly improbable that Sasuke as one person would have the power to go against Naruto, Kakashi, Sakura, and many other shinobi all at once and manage to destroy Konoha.
THEY...WERE...BUSY...FIGHTING...A..GOD. two if you count gedo as its own entity. and the bijuus.
what time could they have for sasuke when the battle with obito will undoubtedly take many gruelling hours?
no. if not for hashirama's satisfying answers, the heroes would come home to ashes.
.
Konoha has a tendency to go through a ton of catastrophes and yet still remain standing. Pain literally decimated the village and it was rebuilt in a matter of weeks and everyone lived.
1. no one actually died and stayed that way.
2. they had a wood element user to construct houses with
3. if thats the case then wtf was the threat of uchiha coup that was so worth killing them all?
Konoha will always exist, it is literally impossible for one shinobi to destroy every single individual there
wrong. the whole world would have been destroyed if minato didnt arrive the milisecond that he did to the battlefield.
you cant defend a village without shinobi and juubito is no joke.
What is Sasuke going to do? He doesn't have the destructive power that Pain had and if all the shinobi ganged up on him, he's be severely outmatched and wouldn't stand a chance.
so itachi endangers countless lives that could be killed in the battle simply because it wont be all of them who die? wasnt it itachis whole mission to make sure that sasuke would be able to fight obito when the time came?
Then he told his little brother what he always wanted to tell him (that he would always love him no matter what), gained some closure, and left like a bad*** for the second time.
or sasuke, like the immature broken psychopath liek itachis turned him into, could ignore all of that and burn the city down anyway while laughing like the joker.
hell he could have invaded RIGHT AFTER NAGATO DID and there wouldn't be a damn thing they could do. alive or not theyd still be exhausted. naruto especially.

Itachi did say his failure came from turning Sasuke into a criminal, but ironically it was Itachi's legacy that made Sasuke change sides.

who do you think is more evil, Sasuke or Itachi?
sasuke. itachi preached a noble goal but really he just wanted puppets to control and failed to admit ALL of his failings and crimes, and still went far overboard with trying to convince everyone he was evil. in the end he convinced even himself and began down that dark selfish path

sasuke is an outright psychotic murderous nutcase whos gotten slightly better without even really apologising for the hell he put naruto and sakura through even though itd take two seconds. but again you can thank itachi for that.
itachi's actions with sasuke wasnt a quick lecture about how the world sucks. it was a long painful many years of sasuke's life being endlessly tormented even if itachi wasnt physically there.

do you think kabuto and obito are good guys
its very hard to pull off a redemption story to begin with, let alone one as rushed as kishi's. they are stil villains till they do something REALLY noble and selfless and then keep on doing them.
thats why itachi never got redeemed for me. he ended ET but it was a dumbass move, and only made things worse but also was done to only protect his home. as if they are the only important people for him. its never "for the world" with him. hes still ruled by his puppetlike obediance to a corrupt hellhole.
