Coughing up blood isn't a sign of Aids, not at all. That was the only indication of his illness and it was stated to be terminal...in real life it looks to be Tuberculosis or Cardiovascular Disease. But in reality it is just plot disease, because Kishimoto wanted to nerf him and I doubt that he even knows what it would correlate to in real life.
