So what is the verdict did itachi get credit for defeating nagato or not because many ninja fought with help and get credit like sasuke vs danzo and I think he should

Alothough w/o itachi they would have been killed twice

Once by speed blitz in the beginning and second by C/t.

- Itachi needed Naruto and Bee who were distracting(fighting) Nagato, which gave him the opportunity to cut the Rinnengan share vision
- Kabuto self-admitted that he totally forgot about Itachi when he intervened
- Itachi needed Bee and Naruto to destroy CT

Kabuto was in control of nagatos movements and tech decision, if it was a free will edo nagato it would had been more credible.

So that being said itachi did defeat edo nagato in a asense but it wasnt a legit fight.

Pretty much this. It's basically like talking about Kakashi vs Zabuza. Yeah, Kakashi had help for one jutsu.

But it wasn't the end-all be-all, since Nagato had just as much trouble with Itachi's jutsu (having to regenerate, etc.)
