Did it seem like Sasuke was more cunning/clever before he got Mangekyou Sharingan?

The tactics he employed in his fights before he got MS were brilliant. After he got it, though, it seems like all he did was spam Amaterasu and Susano'o with the occasional Chidori. It's almost like his analytical skills decreased a bit or the acquirement of MS depreciated his ability to use the various tools and tactical skills he possessed.

I can't help but be reminded of Black Zetsu's words: "The Sharingan is a ninja's weapon. A weapon is only as powerful as its wielder... you can have shuriken and be taken down by a mere pebble thrown by a master."

Seems like MS made Sasuke reckless, arrogant, and lazy.

He was angry about killing ITachi the whole time. It clouded his judgement because he was still lashing out and blaming the leaf for his death.

It wasn't the MS itself that changed his clarity of thinking, but what he had to do to get it.

His hatred toward Konoha mixed with a large dose of guilt over killing Itachi interfered with his ability to think rationally.

All of the fights he started with Mangekyou were out of his league. He picked a good fight against Danzo and used his brains to with Genjutsu to win. Danzo bashed Sasuke genjutsu but Sasuke threw that pebble and won.

Sasuke still uses his head. The people he fought though, were bad match ups for his arsenal(example 5 kage). Deidara however, was outmatched from the start cuz Sasuke could see through everything and had lightning.

Most of Sasuke's War Arc opponents were able to shrug off Amaterasu, so that gives some perspective on how outclassed Hebi Sasuke's moveset was. It's not Sasuke's fault that fights against Rinnegan/Bijuu users require a lot of brute force. Sasuke used his arsenal pretty well.

Yes, post-MS Sasuke wasn't the same tactical person like Hebi Sasuke, he was more power oriented. Not until he got his Rinnegan did he turn tactical again which he again lost quite quickly.

Reread Sasuke Vs Danzo & Chapter 674.

Like against Deidara with his Clay Bombs, Sasuke was once again in two battles where his opponent was using powers he had never seen before, Danzo, & Madara, Izanagi, & Limbo - He analyzed his opponent, came up with multiple strategies whilst fighting & successfully did them, leading to multiple hits on them & ultimately his victory over Danzo, a Hokage level Shinobi with decades more experience than him + 10 Sharingans, aswell as making Madara run to get his other Eye, knowing he needed it to stand a chance.

Since Sasuke awakened the Mangekyo, he learned how to use his powers im battle til the end of Part 2. He only trained briefly before heading out to the war (mainly overlooked) . Whereas before then, he had 2 & a half years to train & develop his skills, thus knowing full well how to use them.

Plus you have to factor in his opponents - Kabuto, Obito, Madara, Kaguya, & Naruto - why use Fire Style & Genjutsu on other Uchiha/Kaguya? It wouldn't be effective, same for Genjutsu with Kabuto.

Ninja tools were also useless against them, minus his Sword, which he convientely lost before fighting Naruto. Genjutsu should have atleast been effective on Naruto once he attained Chakra from the Bijuu. At that point he possessed enough power to end the Infinite Tsukuyomi, a jutsu that put the whole world in Genjutsu.

Obviously. He went crazy & just susano camped post MS.

You always look over so many things.

It only seemed like that because the extra power means that he doesn't have to get as strategical as he did in the past. So did any of Sasuke's strategy making or analytical abilities actually fade away or decrease? Clearly not. He just has less reason to use them.

Well that's a great comment. I gave a quick synopsis. No point in writing a book about something that's common knowledge, has & will be repeated until Naruto fully dies. :bdpf:

He never had to think again like he did vs Deidera. Proof of this is Danzo & onward.

Your comment made it seem like only used Susano'o, but yeah, for the most part he didn't need to be as clever as he was against Deidara.

My point was that he displayed intelligence, but wasn't as versatile due to who he fought.
