Did Hashirama Manipulate Madara???

I understand that Hashi cares strongly for Madara and that he really wanted to make peace with the uchiha. But considering Hashirama's abilities, it seemed to me like he tricked Madara here.

Surely he didn't really intend to kill himself (as if he actually could), since supposedly he has even better healing/regenerating prowess than his grandaughter Tsunade. So my question is do you think that he used a form of manipulation to finally get Madara to come to his side?

I think he really intended to kill himself. He just seems like an honorable guy who would do something like that. And I believe he still has to activate his healing jutsu some type of way...I dunno though. He woulda just turned to a tree or something anyway lol

Because whether the uchiha surrendered or not the Senju was better, and could obviously win the most of the battles.

Hell no, you can't fool Madara he can read someones personality and intentions almost instantly, besides that, Hashirama was going to do it, there was even a tear coming out just before he was about to do it. Hashirama knows his healing abilities better than anyone, obviously, so he would know how to stab himself in order to die.

Well that's kinda my question, would a lowly kunai actually kill the great hashirama? You can be a sincere person, but in order to win the hearts and minds of men you have to be tactiful.
