Seems like his dad understood that such stratification was a bad thing and so he made his family live a simple life. Was he justified in doing this? Was it worth letting his wife die and letting his kid (Doflamingo) live a miserable life?

I think his intentions were right but his method was wrong. Even if 1 family gives up their noblity, there's still hundreds of more nobles that continue to oppress people. He should've sought to change the system instead of just his family. He ruined Doflamingo's life and clearly didn't instill his values into Doffy before making the family move so Doffy was no prepared or equipped to live a life as an average person because he had been pampered all his life, so it was like a culture shock.

It was kind of heartbreaking to see that last panel where Doffy blames his dad for letting his mom die despite the fact that Nobles are scumbags because in the end Doffy was still a Kid, not an adult.

Thoughts NB?

Right decision. But it cost him. His wife's life. His son's sanity. And eventually his sanity. But I imagine being born a noble but still knowing right from wrong he knew he would have to give up a lot just to sleep at night or live with himself.

It was the right decision. I mean DD was more spoiled then the Zoro fanbase.

I thought it was more his Dad simply wanted to live life as a normal person...which I personally don't really understand, i'd always want the best for my kid.
Seems a bit pointless to me :/
