Deserved a better death but oh well manga isn't interesting anymore.

I think this was one of the deaths done right in the manga.

Definitely sympathized with him, but not in the way you do a hero, but more in the way of someone like Light.

The end conversation with him and Rin was great, definitely a lot of emotion in this chapter. I think Kishi did this one right.

I can't say I really felt emotional over it.

I am glad that Kishimoto did actually grant Obito death, though. Gai should have been granted death. It just took the meaning right out of what he did.

Granted - Gai may never fight again - but when characters get wished back to life with the dragon balls every time you turn around - there's absolutely no tension or true drama. If there is no risk involved, there's no drama. If there's no drama - there's not much reason for the story.

I don't see reason to be condescending about Obito's death - but it would have completely destroyed the story of his character if he survived because Naruto collected all of the Sage Balls or because Sasuke 'collected all nine tomoe' of the Sharingan - or something.
