No, that doesn't seem to be the case. But still, Naruto >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> DB, story- and character-wise.

Sure, Kishi was inspired and influenced by Toriyama, but MANY aspects of the DB series were inspired by various works of fiction--other manga, early comics (mostly Superman's origins), Chinese and Japanese Mythologies, etc).

DB is childish anyway. No depth to it at all. A toddler could easily comprehend the story.
I'ma just take this as a joke. As Naruto Shippuden's story wasn't as good

Depends

Goku is actually a more complex character than Naruto is

Naruto:
-I wanna be the guy (to be acknowledged)
-I wanna protect/help my friends
-I want peace
-I can understand everybody
-I like ramen

Goku:
-I wanna be the strongest (just because, this is not related to him caring for his friends or wanting to be acknowledged, and he actually sacrifices those both of those things at times just to go get stronger)
-I wanna protect/help my friends (again, generally separate from him wanting to be stronger, which is interesting
-I wanna see the strength of others (gives up during his own fight even though he could have arguably defeated Cell, or at least significantly weakened him, literally makes the fight fair for Cell with a senzu bean, sends Gohan to do it, all because he wants to see what SSJ2 looks like)
-Makes actual mistakes that are treated as such in the manga (See above, and Naruto can do no wrong, realtalk)
-Can't rely on talk no jutsu and actually has to kill sometimes (talk no jutsu = deus ex machina to the max), but would prefer to just have fun and not have to kill anyone if he can help it
-I like all foods

Naruto's an intelligent combatant, but even Goku outclasses him when it comes to having motivations that he actually works to achieve in ways other than "TRAIN TRAIN TRAIN CHASE CHASE CHASE." Goku also gets to evolve from being the learner to being the teacher within the course of the original manga.

I'm not gonna argue that Vegeta is on the level of Sasuke and Itachi, though. As far as the supporting cast goes, Naruto wipes the floor with DBZ. But I feel like people undersell what DBZ really did with characters like Goku, Cell (who is honestly quite interesting), Piccolo, and Vegeta. It's not just a cartoon power-up fest.
