Hey all, just found this section so I thought I'd upload one of the dozen or so poems I've written. I wrote this poem 'Deviance' to describe my personal "deviance" or divergence from the simple, boring lifestyle that most people lead (e.g. school --> job --> married --> kids --> work --> retirement) and what it means to forge your own path. Hope you like it!=D
Deviance
I walk through the valley where the shadow of death is
Thinking if I walk alone, will it be more impressive?
Anthem of the ones – bound down and restless
To whom much is given, yet much less expected
Of the chosen generation, quickly frozen in stagnation
Build our ant mountains, so enslaved to the sensation
That keeps us going on, a most persistent narration
Saying – be quiet, stay calm, and seated for the duration
Of the tragedy you play with no drama at the ending
The safest way of life that the gracious world’s extending
Let’s be honest here, aren’t your finances depending
On your choice to walk that gray path that they’re intending
So take now a divergence, sprinkle colors to your life’s art
Create your shining life, until death do you two part
A hero’s lasting story must begin with a fresh start
In the darkest night, one can always have a light heart
