Harmonic Convergence amplify/multiply the spiritual energy on earth. At the end of Book 2, Korra stated that she could feel the shift/change of the energy on the earth.
So, what kind of change that she meant ??? Obviously this time, Ravaa once again won the fight againts Vatuu. Therefore, the balance and harmony of earth's energy/chi can go back to normal.

Ravaa (light) born of Vatuu (Dark), and vice versa, Vatuu (Dark) was born from Rava (Light). Opposite but need each other.
Here is the key, we can apply the same formula to the four elements.
Remember what Katara said to Aang in TLA Book 2, Ep.9. Bitter Work - that the opposite of Water is Fire. While the opposite of Earth is the Air. That is why Aang got hard time to be able to master Earthbending.
