Hello guys, I would to like to debunk common misconception that Ten tails host Madara was going all out against 8th gated Gai. WELL, I am NOT saying that Madara didn't consider 8th Gated Gai as threat and became serious against him while battle was progressing, but Madara has no time or not even needed to power up by tapping more amount of ten tails chakra to power up him. Now let's me explain and elaborate:
^^ Madara became just Ten tails host.
^^ Madara arrives to the battlefield where Kakashi and Minato were.
^^ Madara stays relaxed and has first opportunity to make first move and take a look. Madara easily react and cut Minato's arm off, then kick him off.
^^ Obito finally grew guts to stand against Madara. Madara still stays relaxed and easy going.
^^ Gai appeared and opened 7th Gate of eight inner gates and charge at Madara. Madara has situation all the time under control as he proved by intercepting Daytime tiger and reversing it at Gai, smashing Gai into ground and being close to finish him.
^^ Finally Gai opened 8th Gate and charge straight at relaxed Ten tails host Madara. Madara pull first conclusion 8th Gate gives Gai more pushing power then Madara can withstand while WARMING UP.
^^ Gai speed-blitz around Madara in circle while Madara is testing to see how fast Gai is but this time stop playing around and focus on battle.
^^ Madara admits that Gai is fast even for him, so he decides to defend himself to test if Gai can break his black fluid shaped into shileld. There is not sweat or fear in Madara's eyes as he is doing well against Gai's first attack.
^^ Gai gets clearly upperhand as he makes a lot problem for Madara to withstand second attack. Gai then notices that Madara shield himself well so he attack from the side Madara is not guarded with Third and Fourth attack which cause Madara to be immoblized/unable to move. He also cough the blood for first time since he became the Ten tails host. Gai charges at him at full speed preparing to deal Fifth, last attack
^^ Gai's attacks didn't even hurt him so much as he recover almost instantly and put the black shield around himself to protect himself from attacks. Meanwhile Madara sends black balls at incoomign Gai being user that they are enough to destroy or handicap Gai
^^ Gai then tricked completly Madara by getting help from other good guys by taking away black balls which could atomize Guy's existence, then:
^^ While Madara was confident his vctory, Kakashi ripped hole in Black shield with his Kamui. Of course Madara didn't expect other good guys to join or help in any way that why he didn't feel to add Onmyoudon to black shield, because if he did then Kamui would clearly fail. Madara was also unprepared as He has no way to see Gai while hidding so he was taken by suprise but still Took Gai's last attack very well, while only coughing a bit of blood.
^^ Madara recovers very fast from last attack as he stand on his legs while wiping only blood from his face while smilling at Gai. However Madara also admit that he understimated Gai by playing/toying with him but comparing him to Hashirama. The last question you can still dance clearly shows that Madara is supperior to Gai and he is ready to continue this battle while of course increasing amount of Ten tails to use to increase potency of Ten tails's attacks.
LIKELY PREDICTION: Madara finally takes Gai as serious opponent, worthy for him to tap even more Ten tails chakra/energy while using his attacks and defences or even will go all out(I doubt). Gai will be overhelmed or at least matched then uses Last final attack using all five steps in one big technique which forms fully Night-Time red/bloody Elephant, but Madara survives but it will stall him and maybe even deal some damage which will make Madara handicapped until Main stars return and then Madara will complete recovering.
ANYWAY, I will ADMIT being wrong and that Gai threatened even serious Ten tails host Madara, if Gai can keep up with Madara under condition that Madara will finally fight serious or power up by tapping more Ten tails chakra/energy into attacks increasing potency.

SUMMARY :
- 8th Gated Gai is first person to give Madara's trouble while before he was playing around doing fine without need to even try, just stayed relaxed and easy-going.
- Madara was just warming up, testing his use of Ten tails's powers and getting more and more used to Ten tails's power while enjoying his battle with Gai
- The first attack of night-time elephant > relaxed Ten tails host Madara with no black shiled used
- Relaxed Ten tails host Madara with black shield put up > The first attack of night-time elephant
- Relaxed Ten tails host Madara with black shield put up = The second attack of night-time elephant
- The Third and Fourth attack of night-time elephant > Relaxed Ten tails host Madara with black shield put up
- Full Black shiled of Ten tails host Madara > all elephant attacks, except maybe last-Fifth.
- 8th gated Gai was doing well and pushed Ten tails host Madara while being all time on defence around
- Ten tails host Madara's Offence > 8th gate Gai's defence(Minato had to teleport these black balls)
