Describe Kakashi and Sasuke’s relationship in as few words as possible.

They really don’t seem close at all to me.

Post-chapter 699, we’ve gotten emotional conversations or at least moments between all members of Team 7 except for Kakashi and Sasuke. (Moments in light novels included.) Naruto and Sasuke, Naruto and Sakura, Naruto and Kakashi, Sasuke and Sakura, Sakura and Kakashi.

Nothing deep, touching, and emotional will ever happen between Kakashi and Sasuke. They’re strictly all-business with each other, which is sad to me.

They bonded in Part I. Kakashi recognizes Sasuke as being a lot like he was when he was that age. Even trained him at the detriment of his other two pupils.

But honestly I think that bond was shattered when Sasuke couldn’t move past his drive for revenge. Kakashi felt somewhat responsible for failing him. But unlike Naruto and Sakura, Sasuke didn’t remain in the village for him to actually grow closer to him. Then when he did return, Kakashi got him out of jail and then Sasuke began a lifelong traveling journey so there was really no opportunity to grow closer to Sasuke. It’s not really Kakashi’s fault in that regard.

During the war arc, the only time I remember him talking to Kakashi he said Kakashi was as useless as Sakura lol. I think the adult Sasuke respects him but doubt they're close. They probably keep their interactions to a professional level imo.
