Please forgive me if there was a there was a thread about this already.

Obito says that he and Hashirama (he meaning Madara) are two of the six paths. Uchiha and Senju.

But when he goes to take Madara's eyes back from Nagato, he says the he is the third of the six paths.

What threw me off is that,to my understanding, he's implying that there are 6 different lineages, or paths, from Hagoromo and Hamura, Uchiha, Senju, and Uzumaki being three of them.

I'm going to assume Hyuga are also a lineage (path).

You all following me here?

What I'm confused about is that there are two paths left. If he is indeed talking about lineages (cause I can't for the life of me figure out what else he could mean) who could the other two be?
The Kaguya clan maybe? That's the only clan I could think of.

Also, this would prove that the Uzumaki did not originate from the Senju.

This might be a little far fetched. I was rereading old chapters and that stood out to me. I may be overthinking things.
Comment and let me know what you guys think.

That's a pretty nice find but I'll clarify. When he said he and hashirama were six paths he was referring their power as madara and hashi were two of the strongest in their time and it was also a message that they were the reincarnation of the six paths sons. When obito says he is the third path he is referring how madara and hashi are no longer alive and the sage wanted to change the world do obito called himself that as to refer to himself as the one who will change the world.

I think I understand where you're coming from but he says two of six as if he were aware of all six. See what I'm saying? If we're going by what you said that means he knows who the next people of the next generation who will be the strongest and share the same ideals the sage had.

I'm not sure what you mean @ bold. Why is Hagoromo there? Obito said Hashirama, Madara, and Nagato.

And how does Nagato have the sages power? And how is he the third?
