Only the ending can be considered iffy, but that's it. That fight was one of the most balanced and well thought out. It displayed a whole variety of different jutsu properly.

Deidara was never immune to genjutsu, I don't see where this fanfic came from. He was cocky and didn't realize Sasuke is one of the best tacticians in NV. So many times Deidara let his guard down it was too easy for Sasuke to make layers on layers of illusions.
