His lighting techniques counters his earth style and his Sharigan counters one of the most power techniques(IMO) in the series. We all know Hebi Sasuke would wreck Sai. Deidara pretty much takes this. I believe he dodged around Team Gai so handling Sai at this range wont be an issue.
