Deidara high difficulties. Kisame's standard fighting style is pretty useless against Deidara, seeing as he can avoid the entire zone of water and attack Kisame from above. I see C2 being the greatest threat, not to mention his bombs have shown a great increase in power when underwater.
Kisame's main hope is to either out last Deidara or evade him until he needs to return to the ground to collect more materials for his bombs.
Deidara wins, high-diff.
Lmao, I asked for your views and you give me an essay. Nice summary, regardless.
Lel, this match up is among the tougher ones, no denying that. I keep on going back and forth on this one:
Kisame can change the terrain in his favor by overflowing the battlefield with his Suiton. | On the other hand, Deidara can take flight, which in turn makes it far harder for Kisame to operate, since pulling Deidara underwater/engulfing him in the Water Dome is far trickier now.
Kisame has the ability to create water clones and sharks, which can be a great asset in overwhelming an opponent, while at the same time allowing Kisame to blend in with his clones, giving him an edge when it comes to defense. | But at the same time, Deidara has the ability to create clones and clay beasts, which in turn can also help him out, both offensively and defensively.
Deidara's bombs have been shown to create immense shockwaves, strong enough to throw the huge turtle island over on its back. | But at the same time, the degree to which these shockwaves would actually affect Kisame is highly debatable. Unless the explosion is close up [Highly unlikely, due to his incredible reflexes, and the fact that he'll most likely be surrounded by diversions], I honestly don't see it affecting Kisame much. And it surely won't do too much damage for Samehada to heal, it's already been established that it can heal injuries which otherwise would be lethal.
If Deidara gets too close [Which admittedly isn't something he's used to doing], it'd be hard for him to evade the Great Shark Bullet, which is very likely to be his end. | However, on the other hand, he similarly has attacks that would be very hard for Kisame to evade head on, such as a simple, straight up C1. If he manages to get a clean shot on Kisame, he's very likely to do a lot of damage to him. | Of course, he'd have to get it past the Great Shark Bullet first, which seems like a hard thing to do, but considering Deidara's style, it's not unlikely that he'd be using his clones and clay beasts alongside him, which would likely be able to get a shot at Kisame if he himself is busy creating the GSB. Then again, of course, there's always the possibility of Deidara himself evading the GSB, after all, he was able to evade Gaara's sand for a long time, mostly due to his ridiculous reflexes and speed.
Deidara does have the C4 on his side. | But then again, Kisame has displayed sensor abilities, so he'd most likely be able to evade it. If by any chance it gets into his body before he can react, he should be able to absorb the Chakra of the nano bombs, making them useless. | Obviously, the close-up C4 has to be taken into account, but at the same time, if Deidara gets that close to Kisame, he's in a lot of danger of being hit by any of Kisame's Water attacks, especially the GSB.
All in all, this should give you a decent image of the thoughts that go on inside my head when I think about this match-up. It is definitely a close one, but if anyone has the edge here, I'd have to say that it's Kisame. A lot of his techniques and abilities are great counters to Deidara's, and in the end, he has the larger chakra pool, alongside the fact that he can regenerate from the hits he takes, whereas Deidara can not. If Deidara intends to win this, he has to get up close, otherwise Kisame's reflexes and the fact that he has changed the terrain to his advantage should allow him to escape with minimum injuries. Once he does get up close, however, he's in danger of being exposed to Kisame's larger attacks, such as the GSB, which can be damn hard to evade, when you consider its size. Of course, Deidara would be able to use clone feints to attempt to get past Kisame's defenses, but in the end of the day, Kisame has the ability to summon clones and sharks to his aid as well, which kind of nullifies Deidara's ability to overwhelm him with numbers. And of course, the fact that Kisame's Chakra pool is so much larger than Deidara's isn't exactly going to be working in Deidara's favor, especially when you consider the fact that Deidara also has to worry about his clay running out.
To summarize; it's a close call, but I'll give Kisame the edge on this one.
I never thought of that counter to C4 for Kisame. Good points.

Well, Kisame arsenal features two major strenghts: the ability to turn the battlefield into a pool and sustain through chakra absorption.
How so, though? Not necessarily saying you're wrong, but I'd like to see your arguments.
Well, Kisame arsenal features two major strenghts: the ability to turn the battlefield into a pool and sustain through chakra absorption.
None of those is very efficient against Deidara for two reasons: Deidara's clay can be molded to fit submerged environments and explosions can't be absorbed.
Also, it may seem like Deidara has no way to escape if he gets caught in Kisame's water dome, but he can always go underground. This would force Kisame into trying a different approach.
Finally, there's C4. I read your counter and i don't know if i agree or not. I'm not sure if C4 can actually be sensed by regular methods nor if Kisame is able to deactivate the bombs in time.

This is what i had in mind when i claimed Deidara would win, but now i'm not so sure.
I've always preached this when it came to this match up, but then again, Deidara only uses his most deadly bombs when he's between a rock and a hard place. Kisame can be quite overwhelming, it depends whether or not Deidara is quick to act.
Lastly, it should be noted that C0 isn't restricted. This could very well be a stalemate.
Kisame does not have sensing abilities. Samehada does. And he only has access to those abilities once he fuses with Samehada. Otherwise, he would have to rely on Samehadas sensing skills, and its doubtable that Samehada would be capable of processing C4 as a threat and let Kisame know before its too late. Which leads back to my first post, if Deidara pressures Kisame enough for the latter to fuse with Samehada before Deidara actually uses C4, then Kisame would win. If Deidara thinks that his C1 and C2 explosions are getting nowhere, and resorts to C4 before Kisame fuses, then he wins.
Eh, I don't think the fact that the explosions can't be absorbed plays too much of a part here. As I mentioned in my earlier post, Kisame should be able to react to the majority of Deidara's attacks. He was able to react to an explosive that was about to detonateYou must be registered for see linksaway from him, and was able toYou must be registered for see linksin the time it took for the device to actually explode. Who's to say that he won't be able to do the same with Deidara, who has a habit of flying well above his enemies while attacking them?
And even so, if Deidara does manage to get a damaging hit off on him, the fact does remain that Kisame still has Samehada on his side. As I already mentioned, I doubt he'll receive much injury from the explosion in the first place, and even so, the damage he does actually receive shouldn't be anything above what Samehada has been shown to heal. Take into account the fact that even while he may not be able to absorb Chakra from Deidara's attacks, Kisame still has immense Chakra reserves on his own, quite enough for him to heal against any damage he'd receive from a bomb detonated at a long range.
Also, I do highly doubt that Deidara will be able to go underground. Firstly, you must consider the sheer size of the dome. Take a look at theYou must be registered for see links, and then consider the fact that even he was hilariously dwarfed by the Dome. Deidara would have to swim a heck of a long way if he means to get down to the bottom [Note that he's also going to require oxygen while he's at it], while at the same time avoiding Kisame himself, who will be able to keep up with Dei with no effort at all. Even if Deidara decides to whip out clones/clay creations, in order to attempt to overwhelm Kisame, Kisame can simply do the same, and summon clones and sharks to his aid.
As for the C4, why should he not be able to sense it? If we were talking about a single nano bomb, then sure, I'd agree with you, but we're talking about aYou must be registered for see linksof them. If Sasuke's eyes managed to distinguish the Chakra, why should a sensor not be able to feel the large cloud of Chakra coming his way, and determine that the best course of action would be to keep a safe distance? [Especially when you take into account the fact that he'll see Deidara himself keeping a safe distance from the shroud]
As for the C0, that's gonna take Kisame out, I won't argue against that. Of course though, in that case, Deidara will be out too, so at best it'll be a stalemate. :b

Samehada was able to pin-point Hachibi becomes it was hungry for chakra, like any hungry savage beast. Samehada might be smarter then your average shark, but no smarter then a dog. Dogs can lead humans to places, but what they can't do is tell the owner what is before him, Samehada might be expressing fear and trying to indicate that their is a threat before them, but he can't explicitly tell Kisame that C4 is there so Kisame will have to guess that bit. And even still, if someone walks up to you with a knife, the dog won't always point it out even if it sees the knife, same thing with Samehada, it might not recognize C4 as a threat, it sees Jutsu on the daily and there is no reason to believe that C4 is something that its master has not countered before (from its point of view of course).
I always find it a bit odd when people seem to regard Samehada as just some simple being. The sword was able to pin-point the Hachibi's location, and guide its master to him. It displayed grief when Kisame died, affection when it joined Bee's sight, and anger when Itachi's flame hurt it, and it managed to communicate these feelings to other people. Do you really think Samehada will just stay put while a huge cloud of Chakra travels towards its owner, without warning him in any way? What makes you think the blade will not alert him of the incoming wave of its opponent's Chakra? At the very least, the blade should display some level of panic, resulting in Kisame being alerted to the incoming threat, which he'd react to by fusing with Samehada himself, or simply retreating. [Or both] If the sword was able to communicate feelings such as "I am saddened", or "That hurt", why do people think it will have any trouble coming points such as "You should be alert" across to the owner who it has spent so much time with?
