Touché, but I still don't think with what we know about Minato we can say a definite yes or no for winning or losing against mouth-hands.

He is Minato the fourth hokage........deidara lost an arm to gaara a novice hokage.
Minato whips his a$$ with experience, and the fact that he beat his leader tobi.

if they start on land deidara dies, if deidara starts in the air then minato could just make a clone and teleport deidara without touching him like he did the nine tails, then he just chooses to teleport him infront of the clone and the rest is obvious. also minato use space time barrier to send deidaras bombs back at him.

minato is too fast jutsu's like c0, c4,c3,c2 or c1 isn't going to get him, throwing a kunai is faster than making handseals or molding clay, but what really makes me believe he can win is that after watching his fight with gaara and sasuuke again i realised that most of deidaras large bombs can be countered by using space time barrier to make them appear behind him.

c0 would definitely kill minato but deidara isn't going to start of by committing suicide and the moment he sends his bombs space time barrier will end him. also if ftg allowed him to dodge the raikage it would definetly allow him to dodge deidaras bombs which are much slower.

tl;dr; Minato is the one that counters everything deidara has.

I'm a huge Minato fanboy and i was thinking who in the world could beat Minato. Then thought of Deidara and I was getting frustrated to the fact that he could actually beat Minato. I came up with dumb situations like "maybe deidara will start on the ground because he wants to" when really he pretty much always starts in the air, especially if he knows who the fourth hokage is. I'm ready to be flamed as well. That's all I can say. Enjoy.

Minato's abilities

Base speed: Minato has shown some good speed feats like when he caught a baby Naruto from falling into Obitos kunai.

Ftg: This technique allows Minato to instantly teleport to a seal. He can also teleport to a seal that's on a moving target(kunai)

Rasengan: Creates a ball of swirling chakra in their hand, used without hand signs and can defeat most opponents on one blow.

Summoning: Toads: Minato has shown the ability to summon Gamabunta, the king of toads.

Space Time Barrier: This allows Minato to create a seal that catches a jutsu or anything and teleport it to another location.

How Deidara can counter these

Minatos base speed: Deidara has been shown to keep up with Gaaras sand, and Onoki. Flying up or away shouldn't be that hard.

Ftg: Minato cant tag deidara as he is in the air. If he throws a kunai that won't work either because Deidara can fly faster than the kunai, this means the kunai isn't fast enough and won't reach Deidara for him to teleport to it and be within any range to hurt Deidara. Deidara could also intercept the kunai with an explosive.

Ground
Deidara literally never starts in the air unless he gets a jump on the opponent. If this is a normal bump in, deidara is on the ground. It takes him 5 seconds at least to prep his clay to fly.

• He first has to put his hands in the bag
• Let his hands eat some clay
• Mold the clay
• Spit the clay out
• Then form the C summon.

The Time it takes for him to do all that is far too long. Minato is already in taijutsu distance and deidara is already tagged. The fight is literally over. Deidara will have no time to prep his C0-C4's through minato's blitzing - and i'm not even referring to FTG blitzing. Minato has been shown to be very agile, and easily forms rasengan with 1 arm. With deidara already tagged, just jumping and dodging will do nothing much. Minato will toss shuriken or what not, but in the end deidara receives a FTG-V2 before his clay is even prepped

Air
Now, Let's assume deidara is on a mission and starts off in the air. Or, Deidara is able to actually prep his flying summons. Minato isn't over yet. Gamabunta, gamakichi and rest are massive summons. Gamabunta on his own has water bullets and incredibly strong legs. Gamabunta is able to move quickly and jump very high. Deidara in the air is in no way out of minato's reach.
Simple C bombs won't even do much damage to the summons because they won't be sitting ducks. Gamabunta on his own is able to water bullet some C before it reaches him.

Deidara is eventually either;

• Dropped out of the sky by destroying his C2 dragon/bird/flying creature
• Killed in mid flight (less likely)

The sky is in no way a safe spot and minato is in no way handicapped.
3 Giant frogs, A barrage of FTG tagged shuriken is too much for deidara to just simply fly around and dodge.

Rasengan: If Minato cant get into range to hit Deidara than rasengan won't work. Unlikely. Minato can't get into range by bringing deidara down/strategically making him fly into the tragectory of a few FTG kunai

Summoning: Toads: Gamabunta is a very large target. Deidara should have no trouble launching some pretty massive bombs at him to hurt him, c4 could also do the trick. They're not Sitting Ducks and can easily counter C1-C3 Explosives before they reach their target. C4 is a possible kill attack for them however

Space Time Barrier: Deidara could use multiple small bombs to get around this although that won't finish Minato. Deidara could then use c4.S/T barrier has no use in this fight except for saving Minato + Bunta from a C0 Suicide or teleporting a dropped C3 bomb to another area


Conclusion

Minato cant touch a flying Deidara, nor can he throw a kunai to teleport to. Deidara can fly faster than the kunai can travel so the kunai will never get near Deidara to teleport close enough to land a hit, because of this rasengan won't work either, Instead of dodging (which he most likely would) he could also use an explosive to intercept the kunai and destroy it. Deidara could then use his c3 or other large bombs to take care of gamabunta as he is a large target and hasn't shown speed feats. Minato can dodge most of Deidaras bombs.so Deidara could use c4. This would cover a wide area and Minato wouldn't be able to escape, he also wouldn't be able to his space time barrier as c4 surrounds the victim on all sides. Minato wouldn't know the nano bombs were there and if he did he doesn't have a lightning jutsu to nullify them. Deidara wins.

Actual Conclussion

Deidara is in no way safe during flight.

The only weapon has against minato is a C4 bomb which he has to get himself out of range from. This makes this technique less likely as deidara needs a massive amount of prep time (getting distance). This will be virtually impossible with 3 frogs and kunai consistently close to him. This bomb also takes more prep time than the rest and is easily escapable with an FtG or S/t barrier teleport. Remember, C4 bomb is a large deidara doll which explodes. No one will sit watching that because they expect a massive explosion. Even sasuke started to bolt it as fast as he could and minato is a genius. Minato would run away.

C1-C2 Explosives are ineffective in this fight and are easily dodged by minato and frogs.
C3 can be countered by large summons or possibly s/T barriered away from the target area.

Finally, C0 Suicide. This one is a lose lose situation for deidara. Even sasuke escaped it.
Deidara is to arrogant to pull this one off succesfully.

BFR wins against this easily. BFR is a viable move in this case as that's what sasuke did and at the end of the day, the one who's alive wins. The idiot who suicided is the idiot who loses.


Oh, and also, Sasuke was able to ground deidara with a Chidora lance and was also able to get onto his dragon... Are you seriously saying minato - A guy who can teleport, and who has massive summons - isn't going to be able to pull off something similar? Deidara can't even trap him since he can teleport away from any danger.

N.B Explosive Landmines are a moot point in this debate. They need way too much prep time and deidara even used tobi to lay them. Won't be a 1v1 if he has people helping.
Also Note that we haven't seen minato's full arsenal. He wins this fight with a restricted arsenal and unknown nature type. Difficulty of fight drops significantly when more of him is shown.

Minato wins this fight mid-high diff... Sasuke isn't pulling off something that an s/t user can't.
