Minato could have used the scroll as well as that same backpack, but chose not to... because there is not a connection for Minato and the frogs, and a big scroll... Below is Jiraiya fighting with a pack, and a big scroll.

THIRD: JIRAIYA - NEVER used his big scroll in the fight against Pain! Infact, it appears like he just cast it aside as a nuisance...

I posted this in another thread, just wanted to see if anyone had comments on this. Do you still think that this Big-Scroll is super powerful?

I don't know about Naruto's new scroll, though.

I think that the scroll just has a list of all the frog summons, and at most some sage techniques or something. It's powerful in that sense, but I'm not sure he'll use it to unleash an atomic sized explosion or anything.

It's sure minato had no scroll, he sign a pact with the frog just like naruto did when he was younger, but it stop there. Jiraiya has the TOAD SAGE is the only one allowed to carry this scroll(non frog). Jiraiya was acknowledge by the toad, just like naruto did in Myobokuzan. Has far as we know, Minato never went or train to this mountain.

My personal theory behind this scroll... I think there is definatly a greater power than just signing contract, maybe it's exactly what we're about to see in the next chapter. Summon something big like Pa toad said. I wouldn't be surprise that our friend Hyruzen Sarutobi (member here at NB) had already found what it's... A weapon... It's the only thing I can think of, let me explain:

1: Legendary weapon; would suit naruto perfectly and would accentuate the ressamblance to Sasuke (face it when the big fight will occur between those 2 they'll both have a weapon in hand, and it won't be a kunai).

2:Giant toad summon; Gamabunta was said to be the biggest toad still living, does it make him the strongest?? maybe the scroll can summon the toad that without being the biggest would be the strongest.

3:Massive toad summon; Most unlikely, but I have to put it there. Naruto would summon an army of fighting toad, like Sasori use to do with his puppet. I don't think this will happen, whatever the number, weak is weak (remember Naruto fighting Kimimaro).

4eath summoning; Of all this is the less credible, but a lot of you freak out when they read that Jiraiya and the 4th came back to life...we never know!

People have been writing... about the Spoiler for the next manga... that Naruto will appear with a red cloak, and a giant scroll... and that the scroll is some super huge amazing weapon he'll use to destroy Pein... and that Naruto has to have one because Jiraiya and Minato also had one... I believe there are 2 other posts on this page of threads that declare their theries...

Just saying that Minato was under contract with the frogs, but never used a huge scroll... debunking the idea the all 3 of them used a big scroll...

Jiraiya... well he never used his giant scroll at all while fighting Pein... look for yourself...

If Naruto is wearing a giant scroll... it is because Fukusaku needed him to transport it to konoha... nothing Naruto would depend on at all personally...

Being respect by your summon has nothing with having a scroll or not, just see tsunade and Oro (well Oro wasn't respected by his summon), they didn't need a scroll at all. Plus, Jiraiya once said himself that he had trouble with Gamabunta, meaning even with the scroll nothing change...

Sorry dude I don't think it make any sense, but nice try tough.
