This is just something i got up to as i wondereded about in my school year in High School.

You have heard the frase from high schooler or in general " you need experience to get a job, but you need-
a job to get experience"


My real name is Emil,19 and i have finished this summer in high school or gymnasium as we say.

Now i work as a construction apprentice in Sweden, in autumn is my third year and last year of apprenticing.





So i can with my oppinioun say that 4." a little portion of study and much experience lead to getting a job".

Many need studying to even get to a point where they can get experience.

It's who you know.

Of course, the modern employment market is rough. You need more than a couple of bards to sing praises of you to the hiring managers. You need a couple of bards who sing tales of your victories and valiant successes - or of your unmatched potential if only one would give you the opportunity.

I'm gonna say study. Information is important, well at least to me. You can know how to do stuff but if you don't know the stuff about it then what's the point of it? I rather know the actual information on something then know how to do something.

I can promise you right now it's not who you know. It's who knows you. How do you get them to know you? Through experience and studying, you're making your self stand out to them more so then the rest of the competition.

For example, I know Barrack Obama. I've known him for over 9 years, we're great pals. However, I'm only a manager at the moment. Why doesn't Barrack get me a job as a politician? I can lie, I can be smug, etc. I'm perfect for the job.

Reason being is because he doesn't know who I am. He's never met me, he's never talked to me, he doesn't know I even exist. So it's not who you know, it's who knows you.

I'm gonna say study. Information is important, well at least to me. You can know how to do stuff but if you don't know the stuff about it then what's the point of it? I rather know the actual information on something then know how to do something.

There is also 2 answers to the question. Depending on the job, it will require 1 of 2 options. It will either need both study and experience or it will need just experience. No job on this planet requires just study.

They're not going to hire me as a surgeon if all I've done in my life is study books about it, they want to know that I have the experience as well. So jobs in that fashion require both.

Other jobs that involve making revenue such as retail, etc. require experience only. I have a friend who is currently a president in a company. He was hiring a new director for retail. I applied along with so many others because it's a director's job for christ sake. Brian (the president) told me he had multiple people who had gone to schools like harvard, ucla, usc, etc. (myself being at ucla currently and 21 years old), and he declined them all. He hired a 37 year old who only had a high school degree. Why? Sadly to say, that new director proved he had more experience then all of us young know-it-alls and proved he was best for the job.

And in response to the quote above yours. Once again, I knew Brian for years and he took this other dude and not me. He didn't even know this guy till they met for the interview. That guy made himself stand out to Brian. So once again, it's not who you know, it's who knows you.

So whatever you do in life, just prove to everyone above you that you are the best and your career opportunity is endless.

You gotta be messing with me, right? I'm studying to be a neurologist and I know full well that being a doctor or lawyer requires not just years of study, but also years of experience, hence residency. Would you mind it if I had to perform surgery on you for the first time in my life? Don't worry, I read it in a book on how to do it, it should be fine!

BS, experience is needed as well.

It's who you are connected with and how you are connected.

What you know and how well you know it come second to that. Always. A massive number of job postings are already filled when posted. It's a legal obligation that they post them - but in many cases, those positions are being filled by someone the hiring managers know personally. I've encountered plenty of people who get hired into a job that 'requires' a Masters' degree or related experience (if you read the ad for that position from that company) who have neither a degree or experience in the field. They got the position because of who they know.

I can train a guy off the street to operate and maintain a nuclear reactor. It's child's play compared to designing one from scratch (which, even then, you can kind of color by the numbers).

The point is that social networking is the most powerful tool you have in the employment market. The more people know you are looking for a job, the more people know your strengths and passions, etc - the more likely you are to get linked into a job.

It's more potent than a degree (though any degree you have is amplified by social networking). It's more potent than experience (though most experience naturally results in the formation of some industry-localized social networking). An employer is -always- more likely to hire someone who is perceived as being able to fit into their climate (IE - you have friends who work well in their climate) and who is seen as a desirable person to have in the organization (even if their resume is lacking in detail or pizzazz).

The reality is, for most people entering the job field - experience is next to impossible to come by without a job. There are paid internships - but, again, only certain fields really have those.

In many cases - you just have to bank on education/certifications and good references. At some point in time - someone is going to have to take a chance on you. Whether or not that happens before bankruptcy is another issue.

That - or you can always get education and strike out as an entrepreneur. As an entrepreneur, anything within your ability to realize can be realized. Though you want to be sure to check the union climate where you're at. Particularly among the construction trades, unions can often be quite abusive and even murderous (literally) in their treatment of non-union workers and work-sites.

It depends upon both and round it off with connections. You cannot get anywhere in life without these three.

Like everyone else have said, it depends on what job you are doing. But I will say this - employability is generally a balance between knowledge and work experience. You must have good knowledge of what you’re doing, but you must also know how to apply that knowledge to real life situation. Any work experience or previous employment you have undergone will certainly help this aspect, as well as any extracurricular activities you have done (such as joining a sport team, fundraising, volunteering, etc).

For most jobs you need both. You can have all the degrees you want but if people see you have no experience, they'll probably be reluctant to give you a job.
