that's what he deserves imo
Why do you feel that way? Be honest.

This wasn't a pre-meditated murder. It wasn't a crime of passion. He didn't go searching for black kids to kill.

So why do you think he should get the death sentence?

There are murderers all across America who have done far more heinous things than killing someone in a case where there is some argument for self-defense. (not excusing his actions just saying that he does have some defense legally)

What about the soldier who killed all those people overseas? Does he deserve the death penalty ( I actually think so yes) or how about those two black kids in kansas who lit 13 year old kid on fire? Do they deserve to be set on fire in return?

Don't let the media sway your opinions. They are trying to make this case out to be more than it is. The media needs to sell a story, and people like Jesse Jackson will do anything for publicity.

no, they need to stay on the case. This court date is just to shut everyone up and make it seem as something is being done, but watch him get a slap on the wrist and set free (as usual). As a result, people will than argue this and make it seem everything was done to their best ability.

We've seen this kind of stuff happen before, so until they sentence him to death this case will remain a problem (until proven otherwise)
He can't be put to death. There's no evidence to prove premeditated murder. You're a "guilty until proven innocent" type of person.

They are staying on the case. I never said they shouldn't. I said I'm done listening to this racism bullcrap. The state will seek charges against Zimmerman and whatever happens, happens. Guilty or not, the courts will decide. We don't have all of the information.

I made an error in my longer post above: The State Attorney said originally that they did not have enough evidence to press charges against Zimmerman and that's why he was released. This, however, has since changed and the state may have enough to charge him with manslaughter, but certainly not murder.

The only peole the media sway are those who aren't educated in past and present situations. This was one of the many cases that have occurred and washed down by people trying to convince themselves that the case had nt to do with race, which in all actuality it did. It's actually tiresome when people say this happens, it's not that serious, BUT IT IS. It's obvious we're from two different playing fields, and that's a given and you simply wouldn't understand that degree in which this case has emerged. Also, it's not simply just this ONE case alone, but all those before that has remained overlooked and/or thrown to the side because there wasn't the right about of evidence or the case itself wasn't enough to take on with full force.

Once in a while there are few cases that allow a stand and movement to result, because it simply wouldn't/didn't have the requirements to pull forth.

Ima see if this helps. Rosa Parks wasn't the first women to refuse her sit, nor was that the first bus boycott to result from unfair treatment. There were actually two women before Rosa would received just as bad consequences for regions their sits, but nothing was done. You know why? Because the women themselves weren't worthy enough to take it further as they had perosnal issues, which would result for the case to be thrown out. Rosa had the background, rep, and right people behind her before her refusal, which made her the perfect candidate.

This was similar in most NAACP cases, something with Brown vs board of education, which wasn't just one case but five total.

Overall what I'm saying that this isnt only about this one incident, but a shyt load of other things that have occurred bit NO jusiticd was served!! this case was exactly what everyone is claming it to be but most aren't willing to accept that. In fact this isn't nothing different from that of the Emmett Till itself.

Timing, strategy, evidence and support is that only thing that allows such cases to have success and this case is that cass IMO. This case is about Trayvon Martin and all the others who were innocently beaten or shot or convicted for the sole purpose of WWB

I'm tired of racism. I had a female go nuts in my university because of this case and the racist comments coming out of her mouth against white people were so vile that I wish I was in the class myself. Thankfully she ended up getting tasered by law enforcement.

I find the racism that is sparked by claims of alleged racism is so much worse and that, if people simply stopped looking for racism, it might one day go away. People think racism went away with the activists of the 60's but no, there are those who wish to keep bringing it up 50 years later and reminding people.

Yeah, this kid was shot because he was black; doesn't matter that it was raining, that it was dark, and that he was wearing a hooded sweatshirt; this kid was targeted because he was BLACK. Oh, did I mention there was a witness? Someone who was close enough to see what was happening but couldn't tell you who was what race until after the gunshot(s) and the only race they saw was that Zimmerman looked Hispanic because he walked towards the window. Go ahead, continue believing this case was about Trayvon being black, but from what I'm seeing, it would have been pretty hard to tell that he was.

Maybe if people stopped talking about race, I might actually get a chance to forget and love my brothers no matter what they look like.

(tried not to double post, but idk how to avoid it)

I understand where you're coming and I agree, who wouldn't want to see race. But this is hopeful thinking as it will always remain man. (guess I'll catch you later as well). Btw George knew the kids race and even called him a racial slur before following the kid. Race is a factor, ok now I'm really done for the night lol

Did he get treated by the medics and get a change of clothes? Even if he was treated by the medics he would still have at least a bandaid on his head or something to help his "broken nose". His clothes didn't look like they had blood on them at all and the dudes been changing his testimony. Don't the police usually take pictures of injuries when something happens?

Seeing as one of the investigators wanted to pursue a manslaughter investigation, my gut tells me they did document those things. Also, the paramedics on scene would be able to testify. Reality? Who knows. Sometimes those things are forgotten. I was always trained to document everything you find no matter how insignificant it may seem.

The woman in your class is only a representation of herself and no one else, though I sympathize with her, I would never act the way she did, but I firmly believe race is an issue in this case because Zimmerman clearly stated he thought the "suspect" was black, he went off of his speculation and ran with it. Racial slurs were stated, "these bastards, they always get away". I'm not going to say he was racist because I don't know him.

But I will say one thing, we cannot simply stop looking for racism because it will always be here, no matter what, that's wishful thinking though, and I wish everyone thought like this, but that is not the case. And if we simply stop acknowledging these things, not just this case, but everything that happens as a whole, then who knows how far things could go. This is corny and really cliche, but those who forget history are doomed to repeat it.

My take on the case, it's just one big mess, and I feel for both sides, but Zimmerman needs to be punished in my opinion. His actions lead to the innocent killing of a young man. Some may say self defense, but the law is just one big contradiction, it could go both ways, things need to be changed.

She was only representative of herself... hmm... and so were the 20+ kids that stormed a store because of this, and so are the people that continue to scream about the oppressive white people. Yeah, it was just her; she's the only one; she's the only dark-skinned racist in the world, yet nearly every person who does something to a black person is considered a racist these days; well, at least, the majority of complaints of racism are against black people. :| I love how when people mention "racism" and a "black" kid being killed they automatically assume the killer was white. Funny how the guy in this case actually looks Hispanic.

As for him identifying Trayvon as black to the police... well no sh*t, they asked him if he was white, black, or hispanic. I think describing someone to the police might actually help them locate the person when they show up. (sarcasm) As for the racist comment, I've heard it. Yeah, it was a bit racist, but that doesn't mean he killed Trayvon simply because he was black. I listened to Zimmerman's 911 call, and other than that one comment, his description of Travyon is pretty normal and of the same thing you would hear anyone describing a suspicious-looking individual.

The real issue here is that Zimmerman claims to be a Community Watch member, when he isn't, and he was armed, which is prohibited by members of the official Community Watch when performing their responsibilities. He also disregarded the 911 operator's instruction to not follow Trayvon when Zimmerman stated that Trayvon was walking away. Throwing race into the mix and making the whole focus of the case on that one comment while ignoring the real issues is pretty pathetic. Local police don't usually deal with hate crimes anyway; that's a federal case.

The truth is NONE of us have all of the facts. The media will give you what facts they want you to hear in the way they want you to hear them. I'm upset by the people who want Zimmerman executed without knowing all of the facts, the real facts, not the half-truths the media is presenting.

So basically you are grouping a race of people by the actions of a few people? That makes a lot of since and in just one context you are already stereotyping a whole race, with that kind of argument I have no desire to try and listen to your perception because it is what it is, biased. Zimmerman is a white man, his father is white and his mother is white, you are speculating on his looks and not factual information, that is all there is to it.

So you acknowledge the racist comment? But don't even consider him to be a tad bit racist? you really contradict yourself, it's ok to state racial slurs but it's not ok for people to stand up for what they believe in??. Not racist by saying "F'ing Coon", yea, I can see how that is not racist (SARCASM), Zimmerman in that instance is just as bad as the girl in your class being racist, yet you seem as if it's, funny how that works out.

I agree that what you have presented is a big part of the case, but you have to try and at least understand where black people are coming from. Another part of the case that effects us more spiritually then anything is the fairness and treatment of this issue. They say they didn't have enough evidence to hold him, but had they done their job right in the first place, they probably could have that evidence, why weren't all witnesses interviewed within a reasonable time limit. The 13 year old boy who was outside during the whole incident wasn't interviewed until almost two weeks after the incident happened. flip the roles and we all know this whole situation would be different.

So basically you are grouping a race of people by the actions of a few people?
Thanks for taking my words out of context and over-exaggerating on my point. My original point was that the racist actions and remarks that resulted from this case far outweigh the one comment Zimmerman made. The words I hear and the actions I've seen are more vile than the original offense itself. Instead of one man being a racist, you know have hundreds more who are willing to damage property, riot, speak hatred, and essentially sentence a man to death without knowing the facts. I never said "all blacks" or even condemned an entire race. I'm saying in today's day and age, the roles seem to be reversed from my perspective though there is still some ignorant white pride.
first half of this post was utter bull, and i must say I wasnt expecting it from you're previous post. But I must say I can't be too surprised by your lack of understanding to the anger and rage of the incident.
Lack of understanding to the anger and rage of the incident? I see hundreds of people wanting to condemn a man to death for one comment that may have little bearing on his actions. You say the first part of my post is utter bull. You know what that tells me? That you lack understanding of my views. I don't like racism in ANY form. I'm saying there is just as much racism in the black community as there is in the white or hispanic communities. To deny that is ignorance of the highest level. No one is excused when it comes to racism. It doesn't matter if an injustice was committed by one person, it does not give others a right to say and do things that are even more vile.

You both have stopped short of calling me a racist and I'm glad you did; because I am not a racist. I love people and the majority of cries I hear concerning this case are from uninformed individuals of all races and walks of life whose words and actions make them just as guilty of racism as Zimmerman himself.

You can say Zimmerman is white all you want, it really doesn't matter, however, I don't think you would feel the same way if a black child somehow had 2 white parents. Zimmerman is one of the most Hispanic looking white guys I have ever seen, but if he identifies himself as white I guess that is his choice, but the witness who recently stepped up also thought he looked Hispanic so I am not the only one. His looks cause me to question the claims that he is white.

I have no issue with black people except when they make it sound like they are incapable of being racists themselves. No people group is immune to discriminating others and for every one racist you see, there are thousands more just like them. I don't condemn the whole race, but neither am I naive in believing that one person's actions/words solely represent themselves. I hope my point is clearer. If it sounded like I was condemning the entire black community because of 20+ people, I apologize, but I will not say that the words and actions of those 20+ do not represent a larger portion of similar-minded people.

You do know that this video was taken hours afterwards after he had been treated by the paramedics right? I'd say the most telling thing is that for 90% of the video they have the news logo across his head.
Even if he was treated he should have blood on his clothes from his broken nose and from shooting trayvon who was "on top" of him. by the way there are other sources to watch this video straight with no logos or anything on it, you don't see anything on his face maybe a small thing on the back of the head, it's still hard to see it though.

Does anyone remember Tony 2012...? It was like last week right?
And don't be stupid kony 2012 worked, it got awareness out, the UN along with others has now stepped up and have a special task force trying to take him down. Nothing happens overnight

If you think racism "went away" in the 60's then oh my friend how I wish I live in your world. Racism is definetly still around, I do nt try to look for racism I treat everyone with respect until they have given me reason to believe I shouldn't. I respect everyone on the base regardless of how different our views are. But when you see something that's obviously racist, to just ignore it and say its not racism is just denial. I would love if we could all obliterate racism and never have to deal with it again, if you have a method please step forward and share with everyone else
