Haha, you say it's overrated and this is your reasoning? Slow in the beginning? Death Note has excellent pacing, the beginning was in no way slow. You couldn't get into it because it lacks action and fanservice?

I don't really care for fanservice. In my opinion it was slow.

I love Death Note, Light and L are two of my favorite anime characters ever, but yes, guys, it is overrated at times. People usually make it out to be the greatest anime ever when I can name ten others that are better overall (this coming from someone who puts it in his Top 5). Even the first half, which is fantastic in every right, has some flaws, and we all know how many the second half had.

Sorry buddy, it may not be the best manga/anime for repeat readings/viewings but it really does stand among the greats.

It's a psychological story. Which isn't for everyone.

I love that when people say they don't like Death Note people who do try to discredit them by saying they're not sophisticated enough to understand the story.

The story wasn't that complex and it's a common thought most teenagers have hence why they made Light a high school student, because your average adult(non sociopaths) wouldn't come to the reasoning Light came to. Light completely ignored any chance of wrongful arrest or framing and killed with no research(for someone who is a genius he could have at least put effort into verifying the validity of the arrest)

People talk about it like it's a holy manuscript at times and it can't be criticized, it had it's flaws and not everyone has to like it, that being said I found it rather enjoyable and L was one of the better characters introduced in a manga in awhile. L hit the nail on the head when he called Light childish.

It's pretty great, it is overrated by people but that happens with every good anime.

And you really shouldn't judge the whole show if you haven't made it past the beginning.

I liked it,the pacing and story were good.
I found some characters like L and Light annoying,L was a gary stu and Light was a child,but overall it was a great anime/manga imo..

I just recently read it because of how great everyone says it is and I have to say that while I liked it, it's not in my top 10. L was the best thing about the series because all of his info was one sided and he basically figured everything out. Light on the other hand was on both sides and that made it far easier for him to manipulate things. Anyway great manga but it's definitely not the best out there and I wouldn't even consider it top 10 or hell maybe not even top 20...
