Death Note has something nothing else has. The ability to kill anyone with a notebook if you know his name. And that is what I call an idea for a great anime/manga

Death Note is pretty awesome, I only read through the manga but I definitely enjoyed it. Storywise it's great and the psychological element is fantastic. Definitely worth the read. I wouldn't say it's a top tier series though, it's very weak on the character development for anyone who isn't the main character. That said, it's still very enjoyable.
