I prefer the subbed, I've only heard the dub a few times and I don't like L's voice at all. It's just not "creepy" enough.

Sub. It's always weird when they say a Japanese name in English.

Both are great~ But I prefer the Sub - no one does a better evil laugh, suitable to Light than Mamoru Miyano!

Add Kappei Yamaguchi as L, and you have 2 of the Top 10 (imo) seiyuus voicing for the 2 main characters.

This is one of the rare occasions where the english dub is like twice as good as the original. It'd be silly to watch it in anything but the english IMO, especially for that final laugh in the finale. English laugh is the most evil.

Not on the same level as Bebop or Black Lagoon, but Death Note easily has one of the best dubs out there. Brad Swaile's Light is just awesome and I don't care what anyone says, you can't watch the show without hearing L's dub. The guy's voice just sounds so natural as him, it's almost scary.

If it all boils down to it, though, you can always watch the first episode in both languages, just to see which road you'd rather go down.
