there already is live action death note albeit it is done in japanese and dubbed over in english

anime live actions never work as with manga characters are so surreal and different from that of an american super hero as they portray real people but seeing how death note isnt surreal with its characters it should work but i think where the japanese live action went wrong it tried to imitate the panels to much from the manga and anime and another thing american super heros tend to have so many versions so in the films they can create there own storys but with manga as it is manly only one canon story they have to try and stay as close as possible and if they try there own versions you end up with dragon ball evolution

I hope it can be good, but i doubt it will be. Hollywood'll have to dumb down the plot for the general public and even then, the movie will flop. At least they won't be ruining Cowboy Bebop anytime soon
