This Theory is derived from one of the notebook rules in Death Note. For those unfamiliar with the particulars of the anime, I'll briefly and very simply explain so you can keep up *Potential Death Note spoilers*. In Death Note death god's exist, and can Kill humans to extend their own lives by writing the name and knowing the face of any human. The note book has several rules or guidelines, a couple being if a human finds this book they now own it, and it's abilities. And (for my theories sake) any human who uses this book can neither go to heaven or hell. It isn't stated if they become a death god, or are just stuck in purgatory, but that's neither here nor there...
Soo.. You maybe asking yourself, what's all this have to do with One Piece? Well I think Devil fruits could have a similar side effect, and could possibly answer another major One Piece mystery, and that is...(Drum Roll)
What if, when a DF user is killed, instead of them just dieing, they are reborn as a Sea King. With no recollection of their prior life?
The Sea Kings have been a pretty big mystery since chapter one. What are they? Where do they come from? Why they have such high intelligence and or are sentient? Why they are all individual?( no two of the same type exist.) Why do they very in strength and size?
It maybe crazy, but what if DF had this second curse aside from not being able to swim in life. But forced to a seeming lifetime of swimming after death. It would answer some of the questions I posed earlier. Someone like White beards Sea king would be strong and huge, but if say... Foxy died, someone with little notable strength (outside DF) would be the smaller class. Also answers the why only individuals have ever been seen, and where they come from.
What do y'all think? Good? Bad? Bat shit crazy?
