It does lol he stated at the beginning that he wants to protect is family. Later on he would have killed his sister if he had to and played a crying child on the death bed of his father ... he turned in to a complete psychopath.

What does what?

I said that he would kill and use anyone and everyone to remain Kira, that is all, not sure what you meant but saying ''it does''.

In the beginning he wanted to protect his family, that was when he was still Light, not Kira.
If I was handed such a tremendous power and had a detective as smart as L on my ass I would certainly also kill my family and friends to remain Kira, whether I am mentally capable like Kira is a different story.

In an alternative ending of Death Note L and Light's father both say that he was killed by Kira, they both even agreed on the fact that it was Kira who took Light away because it really was.

Kira is a delusional, manipulative and selfish character who didn't hesitate in killing many a nice and innocent people like their life didn't matter if they crossed his path.

He got that coming.

He wasn't selfish though. If you meant by killing his family, father and sister, he did that what he saw to be beneficial to the world. He didn't want to exactly become a god, he felt like he was a god, a deity. He wanted to guide the world to the new time as he stated himself.

"Through use of the Death Note, Light quickly begins to develop a cruel and malevolent nature. He becomes completely devoid of love, compassion and mercy. He views himself as the only rightful savior of mankind and that all his actions are justified, no matter how inhuman they might be. He is shown to even be willing to sacrifice his own family to obtain his goals." (3)

He thought that all his methods were justified, when they were not. He took his cause too far. It was more of delusional characteristics than selfish. If he was selfish, he would've killed the entire HQ of police department and L's associates, and ended L right after that with whatever means he deemed necessary. But he didn't do that, because he viewed that wrong, when Mikami started killing less wrongful people than Raito did.

He was somewhat insane, but on the other hand he did make the world a somewhat better place. What happened to that misa girl? Did she kill herself or what?

In the original manga, she was never shown prior timeskip after Raito died. In the anime though, she was seen standing on the edge of a tall building, although her death was never shown. Some debate that she killed herself even in the manga, some debate that she never killed herself in both occasions.

In the Death Note: How to Read 13 it is stated that she died 2011. That's a year after Raito died (2010). Again, people debate about whether her numerous deals with the Shinigami shortened her lifespan significantly, others debate whether she killed herself on her own will. Some even say that both theories are linked.

In the anime, everyone died, but in the manga, only Raito and Takada died.

Many people fail to understand his character development; sure, he turned out sociopath. His goal in the end was puerile. But when Death Note started, he wasn't the main villain. It was when Raito explicitly met Misa when he fell to madness. Yagami is very much a victim of himself. Throughout the series, his own negative qualities prevented him from being truly successful in his goals. I believe that the very core of his aims at the beginning of the series - that is, the desire to make the world a better place by eliminating criminals - was not evil in nature. However, his own arrogance quickly warped that sort-of noble goal into a wicked desire to rule as a god.

Personally, I cannot understand how anyone could reach such an reprehensible conclusion about this character. Although it seems clear that Light did not view himself as an 'evil' person and acted like a god, this detail is irrelevant in determining the morality of his actions. To judge his morality, the question is was he aware of this big positive effect he ended up making in the world, and he was. He planned it from the start and all his assessments on how it would affect the society were absolutely right.

Regardless what anyone says, anyone can prove his methods wrong, but no one can prove his cause the same as well. We live in a society where justice is hard to be explained, as well as evil. Light Yagami certainly was not purely evil nor was his cause purely good. What Nate (N, Near) said about his character to be a sadistic murderer wasn't completely right.

i agree with you for me series went downhill after L's death

People tend to say that, but I both agree and disagree. Death Note was still a thrilling and amazing story even without L. Many of the people who claim that Death Note dropped in quality are those who were only watching the series for L, rather than the story in it's entirety. Yes, Death Note wasn't the same for a few episodes after L's death, but it does get better once the story picks up past the grieving. It certainly didn't feel as enthusiastic, but N and M did a fine job in catching Kira, as well as filling L's spot. Individually they were inferior in both terms of intelligence and characteristics, but working together filled that spot eventually.

When I saw the last episode I was pretty shocked as well.
But now, when I look back on it, it was a really great ending.
And Death Note is still my favorite Anime/Manga of all time.
