Chapter 3:
Misa hands her son the envelope.
He breaks the seal and empties out the contents. Among the single sheets of paper that fall out, is a notebook, with a red cover.
"What's all this?"
Ask the young boy.
"It's all from your father. Look through it all you'll be glad you did."
Said Misa.
He picks up the red notebook and examines it flipping through it only to realize its empty.
"Mom..."
Says the boy as he looks up toward Misa.
His eyes grow large as he sets his sights on her.
"Ahh! What the hell is that?!"
He exclaims.
"Mom! Is this the thing you've been talking to all this time?! It's a monster!"
"Relax..its your father."
Says Misa with a smile.
"I don't appreciate being referred to as a "that" or a "thing" "
Says the shinigami standing next to Misa.
"My name is Light, and you will refer to me as nothing else but light understand?"
The boy sits there confused, his mouth open, in silence.
"Ok mom what is going on?"
"Well,"
Starts Misa
"Hold it, ill tell him."
Says light.
"Long story short, I've chosen you as my successor. Misa never named you because you will take the name "I" will give you."
Says Light.
"Successor to what?!"
Ask the boy.
"If you listen I will tell you. Now "I" am Kira."
The boy jumps from his seat on the couch in a rage.
"That can't be! Kira can't be my father! What kind of sick joke is this?!"
"It's not a joke child, you will now be Kira. Your name is Kira Yagami."
Says Light.
"Well if that's how it has to be.."
Says the newly crowned Kira.
"You see "light" I've been doing research on the Kira case for a few years now, it interested me, and I agreed with Kira and his ideas, but the one thing I didn't agree with, was Kira's approach."
Light looked confused and relieved at the same time.
"My...approach?"
"Yes your approach, see light you were too soft, and predictable. Killing all the criminals with heart attacks. It made it easy for them to realize Kira was the one killing."
Says Kira.
Light continues to stare and listen in amazement and says..
"I'm glad you agreed with my ideals, but please tell me how I was soft. I'm curious."
"Ok for one you tried to rule from the shadows, something as big as changing the world should be announced from day one. Let the people know they have a new leader! Now that I am Kira, I will show you, the original Kira, how its done!"
"Good luck seeing as you don't even know how to kill yet."
Says light in a cocky tone.
"Grab the notebook and loose papers and go to your room I will meet you there to give you further instruction."
Kira stood up with all the papers and notebook and heads to his room.
"Light, you will have your new world after all.."
Says Misa
"Yes...I will and it only took a little patience.."
Says light as he heads up to Kira's bedroom.
