[Discussion] Death Note after[SPOILER]

Why does everybody say "the show sucked" after L dies? I cannot understand why anybody has that opinion (unless they're fanboys/girls). Please, if this is your opinion, explain it to me so I can understand.

I like both sides equally. I liked seeing Light and L's cat and mouse game but that had to end sooner or later. Light also had to be caught at one point but if L did it, it would have been way too soon. I mean come on, the whole Yotsuba arc would have been pointless. I liked Light's shock of Mello and Near closing in on him and getting in his way over and over.

People say they hate Near when he had similar traits to L who they hold in such a great light. Do you dislike him because he is the third L (I should say second but that was Light)? I don't understand. Or maybe because L was the most intelligent yet he still lost? I can understand that but you have to take Light's intelligence into account - he's no pushover himself.


Please, if this is your opinion, explain it to me so I can understand.

that's not cool, not that i didnt finish it BUT you're spoiling the fun for others.

I really dont like the story after L dies only for two reasons light dies,L dies both are my favorite and NEAR wasnt as good as L he just get lucky and caught light because of mikamis foolishness,NEAR just got lucky thats all and i am a supporter of kira, he was real justce

Mikami was actually really clever and that's why Light chose him. Saying that he was foolish means that you're saying that Light was foolish. Near did not get lucky. He used Mello to force Mikami into a dire situation. He outplayed Light. Matsuda also has the theory that Near used the Death Note on Mikami to make him slip up since he died in prison ten days later. Neither of these contain luck.

I don't particularly think the latter half sucked that much in terms of storyline......
light and near pissing each other off has been great entertainment

but sth about M/N that kinda bothered me is that they were doing this like playing games/solving puzzles...
which might have been vital to defeating kira/ giving characters uniqueness
tho I feel that L's sense of justice/resolve has to be inherited in a more explicit way

That was part of Light's plan to kill Near. He planned on making Mikami suspicious so Near would steal a fake notebook and Mikami would kill Near on the day of the warehouse meeting.

No Mikami went to the Bank, where the real Notebook was and wrote the Name of Takada in the Book one minute after Light did it, that's why Lights method of death worked. The guy who followed Mikami came to the clue that this was the real one and switched it later with a fake one.

In my mind Lights death was stupid af. Compare the plan to trick L and the plan to trick Near. The plan against L was master mind. And later on against Near, Light didn't think that Near would also think that Light was going to switch the Notebook with a fake one? That was so stupid tbh...

maybe but i dont remember when light say to mikami for kill publicly and what u say about matsuda theory is right,mikami got the fake one but i really dont remember about light saying to mikami for killing publicly

it didn't suck after L died it was just a bit less good. BTW Near is annoying... L was weird and funny! he deserved to be the one to catch kira

From my opinion Near just wasn't a great character. I fee like he was just an halfassed L. Not a true successor. I've said in another post that imitation is the poorest form on flattery. He's what I consider a non-rememberable character.
