The Reaper is a Hannya Demoness who are all females and solely females.

The Shinigami is also a priestess holding a prayer beads and reciting a prayer before commencing the sealing ritual:

The Reaper's initial stance with it arms spread is a clerical/priestly stance:

Like Rikūdou/Hagoromo's stance:

It was established and well known by now that the Shiki Fūjin required Rikūdo/Hagoromo's Tablet as the catalyst for the Shinigami Mask to unseal the Reaper:

It is because the Shiki Fūjin is Rikūdo/Hagoromo's Jutsu

and the Reaper is most probably Kaguya Ōtsutsuki, Rikūdo/Hagoromo's mother:

As to why Kaguya became the Shinigami of the Shiki Fūjin, Kishimoto has not yet explained or revealed why, either as an end effect of eating the Shinju's fruit or as a mother's sacrifice to aid her son in fighting the Jūbi.

Forget it guys I am still not convinced... the similarity Kaguya has with the Reaper seal is the horns only. The appearance of Kaguya still doesn't prove she's the death god.. just similar because its the way Kishi draws. Now if someone would answer this maybe I'll change the way I perceive this:

1. If she is really that death god how did she become one?
2. Why only Uzumaki's were the ones who knew/ entrusted with this technique?
3. Is there really one death god, if not who are those represented by the Uzumaki masks?

It's possible, the shinigami looks more demonic...but, then again i remembered what Cs2 did to Ukon&Sakon

Nagato/ninja alliance showed use what happens if shiju gets a hold of someone(emaciation)...perhaps it killed/almost killed her this way in retaliation for stilling it's chakra

outside of skin tone everything else matches up horns,robe,the stance the shinigami takes with the arms spread is the same one Kaguya takes,and possibly hair...If we could see the shingami's eyebrows and Kaguya is shown wielding it's knife it'll cinch it for me... and with hagoromo saying the rest of his family ascended into some form of chakra beings after death...then it is possible Kaguya turned into this...she was called 'The Demon' and dieing would certainly make her a dead demon(thus the name of the seal)

on another note did anyone notice the similarity to the Kaguya clan of Kimmimaro or remember that the uchiha were teamed up with a Hagoromo clan during the clan wars era

Not confirmed, at all they just look the same. Kishi is probably using similar design, like Pakura and Gari for example. They were shown in the war as edo tenseis but earlier they were shown in a Shippuden movie as victims of Hiruko(I think?).

Well, we have in Norse mythology Loki's daughter as the mistress of Norse Hell and she is pot raid as half alive and half dead and other cultures also portray Death as a Female. On a noter note Sir Derp Obito was right about the Uzumaki being decedents of the SO6P it's just that the SO6P were two brothers. One gave birth to the Senju and Uchiha Clans and the other to the Uzumaki and perhaps Hyuga Clans and it explains the difference in the Hyuga and Uchiha eyes if they come from different SO6P.

i tend to agree with this, as reading the chapter and seeing the pics of kaguya i immediately thought, reaper death seal. kishi wouldn't use such a similar design for such an important character, it had to be on purpose.
