DBZ - Overrated?

I watched DBZ back when I was a kid and at the time I really enjoyed it(almost entirely because of the fights). However, looking at it now, it's nothing special tbh, the plot isn't good, and it's very repetitive. Sure, it's a classic, but why do so many people say that it is the best anime of all time?

Because even though it had no good plot and was repetitive, it was epic.as f*ck, it was the most entertaining anime of its time, and remains one of the most entertaining now.

Plus, it had badass characters.

thank you ive been wanting to make a thread about this but never got round to it, dbz is so overrated by so many people yet dragon ball the original series is so much better in comparison i understand that its the most influential series out there but that doesnt make it the best as it has so many flaws the only reason why people say its the best is because it is there first anime that they watched dont get me wrong i like dbz but i dont think its the greatest like i said i hold dragon ball so much higher then dbz

I'm sorry but without dbz there will be no onepiece, naruto, etc.
Dbz opened up a color and artistic way of fighting back to back in hyper speed

This pretty much. DBZ will remain immortal as one of the best anime created just like Dragonball. Maybe repetitive but it made you care about the characters, it could make you laugh or cry.

I liked it way back then but now, I'd rather not associate with it. I know i'll get flamed but I was a big pokemon and mario fan when I was small so I didn't focus on tv much. Just my gameboy. c;
