DBZ one of worst animes ever

well this thread shouldnt have gone beyond post number 16 or for exageration post 23.

DBZ was a classical animation it was fully paper based production. and that is why its considered a legend till now and will be for eternity.
Cell animation isnt a joke and what they portrayed is a beyond epic job.it was a time consuming procedure and they cannot jeopardize entire production for back story shesh go get some brains.

what they achieved on paper no one has achieved digitally yet to that same level.

Wanna know whats funny is that DBZ was the most popular anime from the 80's all the way to the Thousands mark haha... another funny thing is that DBZ inspired Naruto... i like how u try to point out the good things in naruto and dont get me wrong i dont hate naruto but its practically the same thing... Go after saskue... saskue doesnt want to turn back to the good side... go after saskue again... or... talk talk talk.... 50 episodes later talk talk talk... As a matter of fact... you'll be surprised how many animes are exactly alike... haha Your just one of those people who are prolly looking for attention

I'm not even gunna read all the post in this thread. Every anime after DBz has used its formula. No anime can express speed and power the way DBz did. Anytime I have to compare an anime, comic book, or cartoon character in power Goku is who I use to measure it. As for the villains never having motive frieza wanted control over the universe and immortality, cell was created to kill the z fighters, buu had no motive but the babadi wanted to bring him back to take revenge for his father, hell even up till buu went chibi (kid) he just wanted to fight strong warriors, yea he killed random people while he waited but he's a BAD GUY and that sounds like something a bad guy would do would t you agree. The fights were tight as shit the talking got annoying at times but what anime doesnt. DBz is legendary, I mean come on talk about sacrifice the main char sacrifices himself agains 3 people two of which he knew if he died there was no comming back. This also helped develop other characters not just two like one anime we've all come to love.

The author of Naruto got the idea from dbz i mean if you truly look at naruto there are similarities lik orange jumpsuit,power ups ,freindship/rivalry etc dbz made anime current in the usa i think u should have more respect for the legacy that is DBZ

First off it makes plenty of sense. There were many strong fighters trying to destroy/take over the universe from all different parts, you only get to see what is going on Earth because the story focuses mainly on Goku. Thus explains the Kais who guarded the north, south, east, and west quadrants of the universe, and to oversee them was the Grand Kai. which helps show where Pikkon and other fighters come from. Goku is NOT the only strong character, in fact he has died more than any other Z fighter. The story is also alike to Naruto in the way that Goku was trying to convince Vegeta to come to the good side and he did for a while before giving himself to the darkness in his heart(Majin Vegeta). There's a lot of other things I could add, but for time issues I'll simply just say this. It is NOT just about a single man defending random villains who decided to coincidentally target Earth for destruction.

you know what this thread deserves no respect the simple fact that dbz went on for how many seasons in he us and the simple fact that dbz is and will always be the pinnacle of anime in the us and everywhere its just like what ninjasaurus said dont ever disrepect dbz!!!! naruto is one of the best animes ever but dbz started things and will always have legendary status on naruto!!! when naruto finishes and years later they bing it back and people still watch it then it'll have the same status!!!

Technically, he's right. If you consider the countless anime in the world, many anime got better plot than Dragon Ball.

But still, it's useless to insult DB series cause none of those will have be where they are today if Dragon ball was never made. It's the source of all animes/mangas. Without it, the world will have remain almost clueless about the manga generation.

Many people cite the DB series to be the source of all animes/mangas, today which is probably true, but I read somewhere that the DB series borrowed elements from Fist of the North Star. So in a way, it's not exactly the source, it just made that formula of manga and awareness of manga in the Western World more popular.

Though on the most part, there pretty much was not much development on the storyline and in the characters, it still had some. Not much depth into it but still had. I still enjoyed it on the most part mainly because of the fights. DBZ does not suck.

So I used to watch DBZ when I was younger and thought it was the best thing ever(who on here didnt); but looking back I realize its probably one of the worst animes ever made. Horrible story line and no character development whatsoever.

I mean practically all the main villains (frieza, buu, etc..) had no motive and just wanted to destroy the world just because. No depth to any of the characters, no backstory on the villains everything is just black and white. Either evil or good.

In naruto and other animes countless episodes are spent developing the main characters and the villains and how they became the villain. I mean all of naruto is about how Sasuke grows into a villain. DBZ is just a very simplistic anime.Only thing going to DBZ was the action. Im just saiyin (lol see wat I did there)...

im pretty sure after 18 pages there has been alot of people who pwned you on this subject but i will simply say this, without DBZ there would not have been no Naruto. as for alot of other great mangas, animes and even cartoons.

i still see the influence of DBZ nowadays in new things coming out, and still see people making parodies of it. 20 years later. plus they redid it with DBZ Kai.

you may not think its good but you out of millions who disagree. you're entitled to your own opinion no mater how stupid it is

Popularity alone doesn't make something great. Jersey Shore is a prime example of this. It is popular as **** but is complete garbage.

i wouldnt go so far as to say its the worst anime ever, but..in all honesty he did make quite a few good points, no matter how you twist it there never was any real depth to it...strong bad guy = increase goku's power level, or come up with some newer "level"...good vs evil? ok, thats a pretty broad statement but anyways...i love dbz i just dont agree with the people who somehow have obtained this attitude of DBZ = the reason for the creation of anime of every genre...

Your reason is shallow though. DBZ never claimed to be a bleeding heart lovey dovey series like Naruto. DBZ has always been true and outright about what the series is. And people love it. Just because you dont feel it doesnt have the things it never claimed to does not mean that it is a poor series.
