Don't get me wrong, I like DBZ. It's one of my favorite anime, which has one of my fav character ( Vegeta ). But do you know about the DBZ effect ? Basically, it means that when you have destroyed a village, next you have to destroy a country to get the readers enthusiastic and later a planet and so on...

Look at what happened in Shippuden, the scale of the jutsus are so massive right now and I believe it kinda ruined it. Now if you can't use meteor or some weird flower world or giant buddha you are nothing. People are delfecting massive balls of energy or cutting down mountains with one swipe of a sword. Or teleporting giant beings. I miss the old strategic combats we had in part 1 and the first couple of hundreds chapters in Shippuden. I mean I miss how the manga depicted the ninjas.

Yeah, it's not like Naruto is a shonen or anything.

I've seen this point made before, but I'm sorry, this is pretty much protocol.

There is absolutely NO way to keep a consistent sense of danger within battles without adjusting the powerscales.

Of course Kishi is smart to make sure things do not go too far in the DBZ direction, but kunai's and chidori's are not going to fuel the action for long. Eventually things would have gotten incredibly stale and we all know it.

We all do. Although, some effects such as things you listed above is nice now and then.

Then again, the people who use these overpowered techniques in Naruto are viewed as superhuman/god-like. In DBZ that shit was normal. But I agree, the power levels in Naruto are getting up there.

Even still there is only one jutsu that has been presented in the manga that can destroy a whole village and that jutsu takes part of the users life force and a tremendous amount of chakra. I agree that somethings like the giant Buddha was a little overboard but still even naruto and sasuke can be killed by a bladed weapon(with the right circumstances) this makes it alot less annoying than dragonball z in that regard. In DBZ every character is like a god which means every new villain has to be even stronger

You can keep inventing new jutsus or ennemies. Kakuzu was strong without being off the charts like Madara or BM Naruto.

Shibaku Tensei, Meteor, Dust release, Buddha, Perfect Susano. There are plenty off others as of recently

Naruto is also kinda like Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts in which 3 characters try to stop 1 giant transformed character

Did you not expect the power scale to increase? The two powers you listed in the OP (Buddha and PS) are from THE TWO STRONGEST CHARACTERS IN THE MANGA. They were revered as Gods, so their powers must be large in scale... Plus, this is a Shonen Manga. The powers are bound to increase the further along the plot goes.

people who lives in the past can never enjoy the present and will always curse the future...that's u my friend.
and yeah, manga is at it's best right now and it will never be on par with dbz in terms of power scale.

I don't see the problem. It makes for impressive visuals. In my book, as long as the villains are a challenge, supporting characters aren't completely obsolete, and strategy is still involved, it's even better. We've still seen strategy at work despite tremendous power(kamui), unlike DBZ, where power level is everything.

Be honest with yourself, in the opening of the series, after hearing the description of the 9 tails, did you honestly think that the power scales wouldn't go up tremendously at some point?:erm:

If anything it made Naruto better.....

The jutsu/characters/story/battles/locations are all better in shippuden.

I personally wasn't into Naruto part 1 until the akatsuki showed up. I remember how people used to complain of how Naruto was weak, annoying, and wanted him to become stronger than his fellow classmates to be a worthy protagonist.

now that that's happened, people want it to go back one step.

What's so bad about the show being epic? The only time part 1 had an epic moment was when Orochimaru sacked konoha and that was it.

There was simple element jutsu which got really tedious real fast.....shippuden improved on that.

And as someone already mentioned it, it was planned from part 1 to scale this way. Once they introduced Gaara, they were bound to introduce the rest of the tailed beasts and ofcourse Naruto ultimately gaining control over its power.

to balance that they needed villains that could go toe to toe with them.
