He isn't calling himself a chicken. He's talking about the fact that Orochimaru couldn't get the oldest brother, so he went for the youngest = baby brother like some older brothers call their younger siblings.
It would have been the same if he called himself a cub which is also a young animal.

After seeing some responses and some threads on this forum, there are times when I seriously wonder if people really think that or not. Sometimes it's hard to tell if they are serious or not. Either way threads like these are pretty useless, if you ask me.
