I thought this would be a good time to post this theory due to the new anime episode that was released this week.

I would imagine that this scroll contained something a little bit more secret then the Edo Tensai.
No no.. This must be, no this has to be what he has been coming up with in case of the Juubi's resurrection.
Surely Orchimaru knew that he'd need a suckerpunch if he was ever to control, defeat, become the jinchuriki, awaken the rinnegan, whatever.

However, he was planning at the time of his death and unfortunate turn around of events on the hands of Sasuke Uchicha

Why did Sasuke bring Orchimaru back? Well his lovely crew found his southpaw surprise and Sasuke needed his help to devise and execute it.
Why do i say that Orchimaru can't do it? and why he knows he can't? He planned on taking over Sasuke's body, that comes with a pair of nice eyes, then he planned on killing itachi for EMS, does he just stop meters from the finish line? Of course not, he wants the God eyes.

Let's talk about how Hawk divided, etc. Juugo and Sasuke, the power houses of the group went ahead to the front lines to scope the situation at hand, Orchimaru decides oh hes going to be a good guy and what not and just go help the five kage with no alternative motive what so ever because this isn't Orchimaru, this is "GOOD" Orchimaru, " good".

back to the front lines we have seen Sasuke seem almost fodder status, but why? Hasn't his new found powers of the EMS along side with the Charka Cloak, granting him 3-4 more power then he already has? The real answer is that of course he is at least fighting level with Naruto, he wouldn't out right die. However he wouldn't win either. He is simply bidding his time, he knows that without whatever Juugo can offer in the situation (senjutsu bonus power to hurt the Juubi, obito collectively) and that without the help of Orchimaru, and his southpaw surprise that he developed in case of the rez of the god Tree, that the shinobi literally have no chance, but thank god that Orchimaru has shown up in the 15mins that they have to magically turn around the slaughterfest that the God Tree has made of the war, so far.
