I thought he was a traitor since we were told he wanted to be Hokage and had lost against the Third.

But I was not sure if he wanted to be a HOkage himself or if he wanted to put someone he could control in the post, so as to control everything from the shadows.

And I'm pretty sure he knows something about the day the Fox arrived in Konoha and the truth about the murder of the Uchiha's (maybe he wanted this to happen so he would not have to eventually fight against a powerful Uchiha in order to become Hokage?)

Akatsuki's and Danzou's goals are similar but are not compatible because whoever fulfill their goal does so at the others expense. While they both view naruto as a weapon and would like to use the power of the 9-tails, Danzou I believe is doing what he feels is in the best interest of the village. He doesnt want to risk konoha's greatest asset of failing into the enemies hand. Also, while he may have previously had aspirations to be hokage, I don't think there's enough evidence in place to suggest this is some sort of power grab attempt.

i dont think he'll join, when he comes he might kill danzau and the other elders for the orders they gave itachi. Then i think he'll leave top plan his next move

his only goal is revenge
and itachi was right when he siad anybody can bend him to hisi side
he can become somebodys pet if u think about it

danzou is a unique and yet at the same time awsome character. he does want to protect the village over all but wants to do it "his way or the highway" proven in many chapters
but i dont think hes completely evil or at least i know hes not workign with akatsuki because he said "they are here for the 9 tails, but i have eleminated that possibility" so i do think he wans to stop akatsuki just in his twisted sort of way

imo, danzu's goal besides becoming a hokage is that he wants to control the whole village so he can control the anbu assassins and assassinate those he hates.
