Danzo's plan with Hiruzen?

Thought came across my mine after reading the Narutopedia stating that "The Fourth Raikage insinuated Hiruzen's death may have been the result of a secret plot between Danzō Shimura and Akatsuki, though it was all Orochimaru's doing."[53]

and the spoilers for Shippuden: "Episode 351 "Hashirama Cells"
-Kakashi joins Root (or helps/participates with them), and there he meets Yamato. Root comes up with a plan to assassinate the Third Hokage."

Having that thought come to mind, Did Dazno ever plan/try to kill the Lord Sandaime, Hiruzen?
