He did say though "for the sake of the village, I cannot let you live!" and then activated the seal. That can be seen as Danzo, before dropping dead, trying to take them both down with him. However I will admit that it's very typical of his character to have a jutsu like that, so that anyone who tries to kill him gets sealed, and no information about him is leaked.

If he didn't have any incentive to protect the village he wouldn't have said those words, plus that flashback with Hiruzen shows that the guy does have some emotions and attachment for the village (although they are minimal)

I wonder though, if Obito took Danzo's body, how did he not exploit the chance of reviving an Edo-Danzo with Kabuto's help?
