The trick to deal with the paths is to destroy them one by one. So if well played Danzo only needs to avoid being killed once for each. He has more than 6 Sharingans on his arm so I guess it would be possible resorting to Izanagi to hit down each path one by one for Danzo. The Paths don't seem to have a way to apply Genjutso so there would be no tricking Danzo to think he has one more sharing an than he does. Plus the only path with a good defense is the gravity one and all Danzo has to do then is to use Izanagi to raise his momentum to counterbalance the added gravity. So I would say Danzo if he is fast enough. If the battle drags on it would start tilting towards the paths.
+ I reckon that at that time I was still going with my theory that Danzo was Tobi so I never actually thought of that. Still a very good question.

Danzo was hiding out letting the village to ruined so he can slowly take over after the desctruction of the village

As ZJ {if you have to ask you can't afford it} said, trying to become hokage. By hiding he was leting all the loyalist die. Then his quotes implied that he would come out at the last minute and be the hero, ensuring him the next hokage position. Then transfrom the village into a more hawkish stance.
Six Paths of Pain - Danzo wins. Loses half of his sharrigan to Izangani.
Nagato - Danzo tromps his and has a new tablecloth for dinnertime.

The paths won't be able to counter izanagi and they don't have a good defense. As long as Danzo realizes there is one of the paths that can revive the others before he goes below 6 sharingans he wins. otherwise it might go to the paths.

i think that the paths could break genjutsu they are controlled by receptors all nagato would have to do is send more chakra to disrupt right?
the paths would need to go close range to kill him and when at close range all Danzo needs to do is to take the blow while hitting as well, both die but then Danzo comes back. the only one that would make it harder is the gravity one but then again there is a time window between two consecutive waves and if Danzo uses izanagi to raise his momentum he will be able to hit the path.
Plus I don't know if you recall but the paths didn't seem to avoid contact or getting hitter. Pain relied a lot in the ability to revive his paths.
Izanagi is a genjutsu cast upon the user. When I said the paths didn't have a way to use genjutso was because that seems the only way so far to counter the izanagi.

The paths would need to be close range to kill danzo??? Pain doesn't have to be near Danzo to kill him.
Shinra tensei, Chibaku tensei, summonings, Gedo Mazo (which alone could put Danzo on the ropes), Asura path. These are some ways in which Pain could deal damage to Danzo from a distance, and I am sure there is more. Danzo only has 5 minuites of Izanagi, that is no where near enough to defeat Pain.
If the paths would be fighting long range only then they wouldn't be able to hit Danzo.
+ it's 5 minutes if you let it go continuously. you can use the eye one by one.
And just for kickers apart from the fight when Nagato kills yahico when did you see him using gedo mazo for fighting. Gedo Mazo takes a shit load of chakra to pull off if Pain would use Gedo Mazo he would probably have to put the paths into sleep like they were when he was still in his tower and bijuus were being sucked into Gedo Mazo.

So you think Danzo would risk turning of Izanagi whilst he is facing 6 opponents each with the Rinnegan + Summons? And what do you mean the paths won't be able to hit Danzo? why not?
Where does it say Gedo Mazo take a lot of chakra to summon?
Matter of fact, Pain took on a village and then destroyed it with a very powerful attack. Then he had a long battle with Naruto and pinned him on the ground. Then he went head to head with the Kyuubi, and used another very powerful attack to trap it. Then then finally he uses the rest of his chakra to revive everyone in Konoha who he had killed. This was a skinny paralised Nagato who did this. He would easisly have more than enough chakra to summon Gedo Mazo. How will Dazno counter ALL of the animal path's summons? Danzo's izanagi will be finished in no time.
