izanagi is auto win for people witout the stamina to maintain a fight like sasuke did. sasuke was being smart as explained by obito. he had to hit danzo hard and fast to use up the immortality

hanging back is the worst thing hiru can do. like obito explained, if you retreat from danzo, he will just release izanagi and fight normally. sasukes intelligence told him he had to rush in and hit danzo hard and fast to not give him the time to release izanagi.
