People hate *******s. Danzō could be an ******* and still terribly written. If a character evokes emotion, that's good, but it doesn't necessarily make them well written as a rule.

Danzo was hated the way the makers wanted him to be hated by the audience. He's hated for his actions, not his personality traits.
I didn't like him but I didn't 'hate' him. Like mentioned before, he was well written and realistic. He did his part in the Anime.
