He is a villain alright. A evil dictator villain.

At what point was he a dictator like villain? And he's an Anti hero, if anything. Everything he does is for Konoha, but he does it, you know, like a ninja.

What has he done that has actually put a positive effect on Kohona? He may have done things for Kohona but he did it in a corrupt and senseless way. He reminds me of those people who try to erase threats without a second thoughts.

We don't really get to see what Danzo does to help Konoha; and that's the point. Danzo is the guy who does his work in the shadows. He's the guy who intentionally has a bad reputation, so if Konoha gets called out for something, Danzo can take the fall. Hiruzen even states that since he wasn't a great Hokage, he had to burden Danzo with the Darkness of the Village. We only hear of Danzo's crimes from other people. He caused the Uchiha massacre so the Uchiha wouldn't revolt, stole Shisui's eye because he didn't trust anyone from the Uchiha having that kind of power, helped Hanzo attack Nagato in order to stop a treaty between Konoha and Iwa. He also apparently arranged for Nono and Kabuto to kill each other.

Stopping the treaty? Danzo knows that treaties mean jack shit in the Narutoverse. He'd much rather annihilate Iwa with the help of Minato and the Three Sannin, sending the ultimate 'don't **** with us' to the other villages. And we dont have 100% confirmation on his role on Kabuto killing Nono. While Kabuto pieced it together, he was distraught from killing his mother, and Orochimaru was the one guy to confirm it, even though he's already shown signs of interest in Kabuto before that event.

Ultimately, one can never know the full extent of Danzo's role. Maybe he sent Root to assist in the Bloodline Rebellion. Maybe he assassinated ninja who were planning on selling Konoha secrets. Maybe he had Root secretly guard Naruto, and if necessary, give away their lives in order to reseal the Kyubi. That's why I love Danzo so much. He obviously has a much larger role than he was given, and even when he was dying he thought about Konoha and Hiruzen. He didn't have a 'I should've been leader' or 'curse the Uchiha'. All he regretted was that he couldn't be as great a person as Hiruzen.

He's not a monster. He's a well intentioned extremist. You can't just call him a villain, as he's FAR too complex for the label.

I agree with this except the uchiha part... They were never bad but tobirama and danzo pushed them too far
