Danzo and Tsunade , who really deserves the Hokage title ?

Danzo wouldn't be that different from Ōnoki and Hanzo - in that he's old school, traditional type. A war hawk who would instigate more wars than any other Hokage.
... without being Hokage, he caused various problems and set up the greatest threats to Konoha; Orochimaru, Pein/Akatsuki, Itachi, Sasuke.

So I don't think he would have been a good Hokage. But then, nobody is perfect.

• Hashirama enslaved the Tailed Beasts and handed them out like candy to the other shinobi nations.
• Tobirama marginalised the Uchiha and created a dubious and later catastrophic technique (Edo Tensei).
• Hiruzen not executing Danzo for attempting to assassinate himself, or Orochimaru for human experimentation/crimes against Konoha.
• Minato... should have allowed Hiruzen to perform the sealing technique, being a martyr is all well and good but what use is he to Konoha if he's dead? He was needed, Hiruzen was old and his wife was dead - should have let him kick the bucket in style.

Tsunade - she should have been were she was needed most, in the hospital. Devoting her time to what she does best, healing. That and teaching other med-nin. Not tied to a desk getting drunk off her ass filling in useless paperwork.

Hokage is such a crap job... Hiruzen would have been badass as an Academy Headmaster lol. He'd just go from class to class and teach on the fly, would have significantly less paperwork too.

Meh. Danzo would have been an absolute dictator, he would have become overun by paranoia - his life would have held even more value than before and the lengths he'd go to to protect it (in the name of Konoha) would increase.
... the number of missing-nin from Konoha would rise, significantly.

Danzo was a true shinobi. if it wasn't for danzo the leaf would have fallen during hiruzens reign. hiruzen legit admitted to not doing jack shit as a shinobi when he became hokage. he says he left all the "darkness" to danzo and thats why he turned out that way and its true.

danzo protected the leaf against spies and saboteurs. he spied on other villages, collected valuable intel and made lasting alliances that helped from the shadows not superficial ones like the kages that just smiled and shook hands and then went to war 10 years later.

He was short-sighted and created just as many problems as he solved.
He had a direct hand in what Orochimaru later became, Sasuke also. He did nothing but fan the flames of hatred towards the Uchiha - if Orochimaru could form an objective analysis of the situation (cause and effect) then I doubt Danzo was blind to that either. There were solutions, Danzo just didn't want them.
He was instrumental in Nagato becoming Pein, due to his alliance with Hanzo... which was, by the way, to gain allies/support in overthrowing Hiruzen as Hokage (a coup).
He also set Itachi on his path... and had he have been a lesser man, he would have been quite capable of being one Konoha's greatest enemies.

It's his ideology that perpetuates the cycle of hatred and if you think Tsunade led the village to ruins, Danzo would have led it into a bloodbath that made the previous wars look like a tea ceremony.
He has all the political skill and tact of a teapspoon if the Kage Summit was anything to go by; massive fail. You'd think coming from the village of the Hyuga, he'd be aware of what the Byakugan can do.

... which begs the question, how much did the Hyuga know about Danzo?

Danzo started out with all the best of intentions, but somewhere along the line he became power hungry. He basically knew what Orochimara plans were, to destroy the village. Anyone who would allow someone to destroy the village by releasing a tailed beast, all in the hopes to take over as Hokage and build it in his own image, is not fit to be called hero.

Danzou became hokage for a day and ruined Konoha's reputation during Kage summit within hours by trying to cheat even there...Resulting in Raikage and Gara looking for Kakashi to have the talk with, in his place...

That alone proves how suitable he would have been as a Hokage...Konoha would have probably lost any standing among others because of his underhanded behaviour over and over.

Nice thread. I agree that Danzou should have earned it title. I would even go as far to say that Itachi could be up there for Hokage. Both did whatever it took to keep the leaf safe and peaceful at whatever the cost. But apparently they would rather have someone more "well known" and not someone who can do the job "better"

Even if tsunade is much weaker than him doesnt change the fact that only people that aknowledged by every one can be come their leader. Tsunade was not really 100 % trusted by every one inbegining but being grand daughter of the first and her title was good enough to sit on the seat. One more thing that she actually cares for her people.

Danzo would have been a Hokage much like Tobirama. Maybe even more tight a**ed. But he would have been more useful in general against the ending villains than Tsunade was. Either way they both ended up appearing like fodders against elite Uchiha warriors (Danzo less fodder seeming).

I'd give Danzo the edge, but rightfully Kakashi took over years later

If Danzo was more worthy he would've been elected right after Hiruzen died. However, he wasn't even considered. His bffs (Konoha's elders) immediately offered the post to Jiraiya, who instead went through all the trouble it was to get back Tsunade.
That's just the most blantant example to think about. There're other instances where Tsunade proved herself as a great Hokage, while Danzo screwed up.

Overall, when it comes to prowess.. Tsunade shits on Danzo any day of the week. Fapboys can disagree all they want because they get impressed with their flashy techs.. more power to them. Realistically he doesn't hold a candle to any of the Sanin, and especially Tsunade.

No Hokage aside from Hashi could have stopped CST. Tsunade would save more than any other kage in the aftermath.

Danzo controlled much of Hiruzen's reign as hokage and we all know Hiruzen was a terrible hokage.
