What would Danzo gain from the Kyuubi incident?
Both the Kage's, the current(Minato) and the former(Hiruzen), dead. Afterwards, Obito would just take the Kyuubi with him, leaving Danzo to take control of Konoha.
In case Obito failed, The Uchiha Clan's loyalty would still be brought into question by Shimura Danzo.
But why would Obito help Danzo?
Danzo's alliance with Hanzo, caused Yahiko's death, which paved the way for Nagato's manipulation by Obito. Obito's biggest roadblock(Yahiko) was removed that night, thanks to Danzo. Which makes me question Obito's motives for attacking Konoha with the Kyuubi, it all seems like another Danzo orchestrated attack for a favor, which he performed by causing Yahiko's death without any suspicion falling on Obito, and all the blame automatically going only to Hanzo and Danzo.
Which brings us to our next topic, the Uchiha massacre, which was ultimately caused by, that's right, the Kyuubi incident. And Danzo got rid of the Uchiha, a problem for him in case he became Hokage, and got a buttload of Sharingan for his Izanagi.
He went behind Hiruzen's back and got into Itachi's head by carefully using his love for Sasuke and forcing Itachi to act out of desperation, Hiruzen was contemplating a solution, and he didn't look too worried about the Uchiha(sitting there smoking his pipe).
Who knows, he might have even made Itachi the Hokage and ended the feud right there.
But Danzo didnt let it happen. He wanted to avoid a peaceful solution, Danzo even went as far as snatching out Shisui's eye when Shisui offered to end it with Koto Amatsukami.
Is it possible? I think so. But it is still speculation and not fact. Not yet.
A fact that does strengthen my theory, is that Obito mentions meeting Danzo on the night of the Uchiha Clan massacre(where they both gained all their extra Sharingan), just before he summons Sasuke to get his revenge on him.
