"I wonder when he'll get here... "

Ryuzetsu takes off her bandana to wring it, revealing her long white hair. She waits for him...

''Hello there young lady. It's a pleasure meeting you, I am Shuusai, and I will be learning you the special element; Lightning. It's pleasure with working with you, and I hope that the Hokage hasn't sent me for nothing, I like enthusiastic and studious students, I have high expectations from you!''

Alright then, I want you to tell me in your own words the following, try to be as detailed as you can, just write everything you want underneath just let it make sense;

1. What is Lightning?
2. What is Lightning it's weakness and strength
3. Which element do you get when you combine Lightning with element(s)
4. Known users that specialize in Lightning from the anime/manga.

 

[Irie]

The wind blows, the thunder roars. Ryuzetsu stares at the man in front of her. Still and silent, she tried to make up her mind about him. After Wringing her bandana once last time, she hangs it up on a twig, only to be rained upon again Ryuzetsu walks closer to the man who introduced himself as Shuusai.

She smiles

"I ,too ,hope that I am not a disappointment. Nice to meet you , sensei"

Listening to her new sensei intently, Ryuzetsu gave him a slight nod acknowledging what he wanted from her. She Takes a deep breath, exhaling quickly as if to remove her nervousness.

"Lightning, what is lightning you say? For starters, it's one of the deadliest demonstration of natures true beauty. It happens in the clouds; collisions after collision after collisions, until charge builds up. Positive charges in the sky desperate to connect to the negative charge near the earth... If they connect...viola... You have yourself a lightning strike. Lightning is known to be hotter than the surface of the sun and travel a third of the speed of light... But sensei..."

Ryuzetsu looks up at him, with a subtle cheeky smile

"...that's not what you were after, now was it? For us Shinobi, lightning is a bit different. Natural lightning is dense, too hot, and very intractable - but this does not mean it can't be used. Lightning made of chakra, which has been produced through high frequency vibrations of the chakra is a lot more malleable than it's counterpart, though a lot of care is still needed when handling this element since the user will still be dealing with raw strands of electricity. The right amount of control is needed in order for it to work most effectively"

"Lightning is known to be the hardest element to control because of its erratic nature"

While explaining Ryuzetsu kept eye contact with her sensei, despite being nervous on the inside, she refused to let her superior see it. Heart pounding fast, she continued

" Raiton has many strong qualities... it allows fast movement, and deal great piercing damage. Water conducts Lightning well, and seeing as the human body is made up of at least around 60% water, when used correctly it can deal a fatal blow if used on a targets body. When infused with weapons, it add a brilliant sharpness to it meaning great slashing attribute since because of the high frequency Vibrations"

"When used in conjunction with other Elements, Raiton goes well with Suiton. As I've mentioned previously... Water conducts electricity, therefore it widens the range of the Raiton attack. Also, if the user manages to control natural lightning... it would be extremely powerful. Raiton is strong against Doton as it able to travel through the earth and is able to crack it down"

The rain stops, and sunlight seeps through the clouds, creating the a view of beautiful streams of light. Ryuzetsu tuck a strand of hair that were getting in the way of her vision behind her ear, while holding a now serious expression.

"Though, despite it's great qualities, everything has to have a weakness. It's weaknesses is that it is not as fast as its counterpart, natural lightning. Also, it is weakest against Fuuton, since wind is a natural insulator. Again, as I have mentioned before, due to it's erratic nature... it takes a certain amount of control in order to "tame" this element"

She pauses for a moment

"Sensei, by combine you mean, infuse the chakra natures together? Like Doton and Suiton to make Mokuton? If thats the case... I'm sorry but I only know of one, as of now... and that is Storm Release. Lightning nature chakra infused with Water nature Chakra"

She blows up her cheeks subconsciously indeep thought regarding the last question

"Well... Users of Raiton...Uhm... Raiton is most common with those from Kumogakure, and naturally well known users would be from there... Such as The Third Raikage, his son A who is the fourth Raikage... Kakashi Hatake, Darui, and uhm... "

Ryuzetsu takes a deep breath tilting her head trying to think of the last person the she knew of

"oh...Uchiha Sasuke"

Ryuzetsu kept a straight face, but she hoped that her answers would please him.

As Shuusai looks at his new student, which seems utterly studious - he slightly picks up a strong chakra presence around her. Her presence, filled with potential. ''This, will become a strong and fearless kunoichi'' he tought, as he kept listening to her explanation of the ''lightning'' element.

As she finished speaking, he started applauding towards the woman, and an slight, but yet unnoticeable grin appeared upon his face, pure out of happiness.

''Perfect! Wonderful, you have a good beginners knowledge of the lightning element! Now I will give you some information about lightning element myself, which is extremely handy during battles, you must remember this, or write it down upon your note-book to remember these things, because it comes very handy now and then during bad situations.''

• A rank lightning vs A rank earth: Lightning destroys earth and keeps moving. [C-Rank]
• S rank lightning vs A rank earth: Same as above. [B-Rank]
• A rank lightning vs S rank earth: Lightning will destroy the earth but as a result it will use of all of its power and cancel out.

• A-rank wind vs A-rank lightning: Wind cancels it and continues. [C-Rank]
• S-rank wind vs A-rank lightning: The same as above. [B-Rank]
• A-rank wind vs S rank lightning: Both negate each other.

Fire and lightning: You have to use the ability that they don't mix to your favor. Instead of thinking how lightning can wrap around it, think about how lightning can travel through it also creating an element of surprise.

• Fire + Lightning = Equally strong, these two elements are almost impossible to mix, I guess a few special lightning jutsus that wrap around the fire could mix with it, but it wouldn't create a special combo.
  
• Wind + Lightning = Bad combo, lightning cannot be fused with wind, don't use them together.
  
• Lightning + Earth = I guess you could in some way electricute the earth to increase it's lethality, but you'd loose your lightning jutsu in the process.
  
• Lightning + Water = Electric water, often used a brilliant combo, but it can backfire on you really bad, if you touch the water you loose the fight.

She exclaims when her sensei told her to make notes and immediately dug into her pouch, fishing out a small note book. She smiles awkwardly towards the sensei.

"Sorry, sensei...Carry on"

Ryuzetsu listened intently to how her teacher explained the effects of attacks and the combinations possible and scribbled it down quickly. For a second, she looks up at him and was in awe. She already admired him.

"So, sensei... the only thing I don't get is:

A rank lightning vs A rank earth: Lightning destroys earth and keeps moving. [C-Rank]
S rank lightning vs A rank earth: Same as above. [B-Rank]
A-rank wind vs A-rank lightning: Wind cancels it and continues. [C-Rank]

''Well, it's quite simple. It all has to do with logic sense and oh well, that's just how the nature elements react to each other. Let's say, I use the A-Ranked lightning destruction technique which Kakashi Hatake uses very often, and I try to cancel it out with an A-Ranked wind pressure technique which previously was used many times by the evil Kakuzu. Wouldn't it make sense that the wind would cancel the lightning out and continue in a much weakened state? The wind, which travels upon the ground in this case shall negate the strong lightning currents instantly, the moment they get into contact. These destructible whirlwind waves have the strength to destroy, or make such strong lightning currents oh so useless, despite the fact of the underestimated strength of the lightning, that's just how wind reacts to it.''

As Shuusai finished explaining, he looked to his student and wondered how to continue explaining.

Descripton: The user, after performing the Snake hand seal, emits lightning in the shape of a spear from their hands or mouth which then pierces the enemy. Kakuzu, the original user, shoots the technique from his Lightning mask's mouth. Its destructive power is great enough to even pierce through rock; meaning it has a high killing potential. The user can increase the number of spears to attack multiple enemies by branching the main spear. This, coupled with the sheer speed of the lightning, makes it a difficult technique to evade. This strong attack can be defended against by an equally strong attack of the same element such as Raikiri.

(Fūton: Tsuyoi Kaze Nami) - Wind Release: Powerful Wind Wave

Ryuzetsu puts down her notebook and took a deep breath in contemplation. Analysing the question her sensei has given her.

She might have looked confident on the outside but on the inside she was dying little by little that something like this went over her head. She hoped that her impression of her hasn't changed.

Ryuzetsu took a deep breath and looked her sensei right in the eyes.

"According to your explaination earlier and apply that knowledge into this situation, the outcome will be that is there is no winner, seeing as they negate each other, render one another's attack null. "

"The reason being is that: one, wind is lightning's natural enemy. Two, when applied to this scenario, although Wind is able to insulate lightning, there's only so much it can take, meaning the Offensive prowess of the S rank technique is a little more than enough of what the insulating capacity of the A rank wind technique can take, therefore both attacks nullify each other"

She averted her eyes from her sensei. Which element will continue when neutralized...?

"In this case, Sensei..."

"Uhm... None will continue, seeing as they have nullified each other. Though if it were any other case, for example, if a lower rank lightning technique was used instead of the S-rank....then the wind will continue. But as I have said, in this scenario, none will continue"

She just stared at her sensei, in hopes that what she said was correct and to his liking.

''Perfect. Now let's continue with the Earth VS. Lightning. Once again it all has to do with logic sense and oh well, that's just how the nature elements react to each other. Let's say, someone performs a chidori into their palm and extend the chidori into a lightning spear chidori, the A-Ranked one. And your opponent reacts with performing a A-Ranked earth wall technique, who will win in this kind of situation then?''

Description: The user increases the range of their Chidori by using form manipulation to extend it into a blade up to 10 meters in length. This blade is capable of splitting into multiple additional blades upon contact with an enemy, drastically increasing the number of wounds it can inflict. Like other Chidori-related techniques, this jutsu will numb its target upon contact but unlike others, seems to focus more on having a cutting power, like a katana, than a piercing one. Because of its cutting abilities, it often seems to manifest a certain "solidity"; a tangible aspect.

Description: Like the parent technique, it creates a reinforced wall of earth to be used as a defensive mechanism. However, the technique works in a different manner. Using a pre-existing source of earth, it allows the user to create multiple walls of earth, further fortifying their defense instead of forming a single wall, by slamming his hands on the ground.

Ryuzetsu looks at Shuusai sensei and imagines the scenario in her head. An A rank lightning with an A rank earth. What will happen. She furrows her eyebrows a little in contemplation. Hmmm . All of a sudden, something clicked.

"Lightning strongest against earth because it has the ability to travel through it and break it apart, in this case, despite the fact that they are techniques of the same rank; Lightning will win..."

Ryuzetsu pauses to think about it a little. She imagines what the effect of the chidori will be to the earth in order to explain it well"

"As I have mentioned before, Lightning can pass through earth. Seeing the chidori has cutting attributes and will spread into multiple blades at contact, once the attack hits the walls, the lightning will spread out cutting the earth with ease in multiple directions thus shattering it. Breaking it into pieces"

She bites her thumb slightly as she thinks of what happens after that

"The element that will continue will be the Chidori. Since it's used up some of its power when shattering the wall, the attack won't be a strong as it started out to be, downgrading to a C-rank attack.Still the opponent has to defend against that C-rank attack"

Ryuzetsu looks at Shuusai with anticipation.

So, let's start then, shall we?! Now that you have enough knowledge of the Lightning element, I want you to sit down in a easy pose and start meditating, before you do so you gotta close your eyes, and breath in, and out. Once you've done that, I would like you to try to release small lightning currents from your body, and while trying to do so, try to cause this little leaf to get pierced, by your hopefully, new found element.

• Brief description of how you perform the technique;

Ryuzetsu does what her sensei said, and sat down. She closes her eyes, and tried to breath in and out. Once she had reached the right pace and was completely immersed in meditation, she focuses her chakra, she started thinking of rapidness, quickness, and eventually she could feel it, because of this she was able to change the nature of the chakra to lightning. Taking the small leaf in hand, she encloses in between her palms. Ryuzetsu release her chakra, and once she opened up her hands the leaf was widely peirced in different places.

She smiled

• How can the technique be used in battle (combos with other moves/skils, creative use, etc);

This may be the crazy in me talking, but since lightning is an electrical current, it can travel throughout the body. This technique can be used in conjunction with Taijutsu, for example, the user can focus their lightning chakra on the feet so when they land a hit on their opponent, not only will they be hurt because of the blunt force, but they will also get shocked.

I'm sorry sensei, that's all I can think of for now, but as I've mentioned before, water conducts electricity, so any move that involved using a suiton technique would be advantageous.

• Limitations of the technique;

It's a basic technique therefore there's not a lot one can do with it.

• How to counter the technique;

It would be easily nullified with any wind technique because it is lightnings natural foe, or it could be blocked by a much higher level doton technique.

''Perfectly done, alright, now I want you to do the following; Stand still, breath in and out while closing your eyes. While doing so, I want you to concentrate, crop lightning chakra into your whole body and release it all at once into your palm. While you do so I want you to tame it, tame the currents and let them surge in the manner that you want it to surge in, whether its around your index finger, thumb it's your choice, but now I want you to try to slam your hand onto the ground, and let the collected lightning currents into your palm get loose and release it all at once across the ground. Right afterwards, I want you to keep letting lightning surge trough your whole body, and eventually let it surge into your palm as before whilst letting a wave of lightning get out of your palm. If you get any questions on how to use them best during battle's, then please do so darling. ^_^''
