Dai vs Swordsmen at the same time Kakashi kills Rin?

Now, I just read the newest chapter from the Naruto manga, and it kind of bothered me.
I had many questions, and after some research, I think I may have answered them

Q) Why was Gai and his team in the middle of a forest?
A) They were sent to aid Kakashi in rescuing the kidnapped Rin!

Here is the evidence that helped me come to my conclusion.

Now, we all know why Rin was killed. It was because Shinobi of Kirigakure sealed Isobu (The Three-Tails)
into her, they wanted to let it loose on Konoha, wreck stuff up, and then invade the damaged Village.
Now, this was all stopped by Kakashi. I thought it was weird that Kirigakure did not send any back up, so I started reading through some old Manga chapters. I found this, while looking at Gai.

That's a scan of Gai vs Obito, nothing new right? Now look at Gai's clothing, and look at this scan from today's Manga.

It's the exact same clothes! This shows it was at the same time period after Obito's death, and Rin's death. I know this, because after Rin's death, both Kakashi and Gai have a change of clothes.

That demonstrates, that Gai and friends were attacked by the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist before Rin died!

Q2) Why were The Seven Swordsmen of the Mist attacking random Genin?

The SSOM (Seven Swordsmen of Mist) were the backup for the Jounin/ANBU Kirigakure shinobi!
At least, that's what I believe. Now, listen, as stated in the above spoiler, the Three-Tails was sealed inside of Rin.
This was all after the recent Third Shinobi World War, so Kirigakure knew that Konoha was low on supplies and fire-power. There's no better time to capitalize and take over Konoha, that's why they did what they did.
However, I believe that the Jounin/ANBU didn't come alone. I believe that they sent the SSOM to attack Konoha, after the Three-Tails had destroyed most of it. The SSOM come in, clean up, and Kirigakure gains a lot of land, supplies, ect...

Q3) Why did Kakashi specifically ignore Gai more then the other Genin/Chunnin?

I believe that Kakashi came to find out that Gai came to help, but was interrupted by the SSOM. That's why Kakashi specifically ignored Gai longer the rest of the Konoha 11. He knew Gai failed to save Rin, and he was desperately trying to put the blame on someone else. I also think that's why their friendship/rivalry is so strong, because Kakashi eventually accepted that Gai tried to help as much as he could, and that Gai lost someone he truly loved as well.

Well, there you have it, my idea on why everything happened like it did.
I think it makes sense, you may think I looked into it too much, but oh well.

Just because he is wearing the same clothing doesn't mean these events took place before or after Rin's death. If I recall Gai was still wearing that gee well after Rin's death (at least by filler/anime timline. Kakashi had the outfit change not Gai. That was Gai gee during that period in his life.

We don't know for sure why the 7 swordmen of the mist were in the Land of Fire. They could have been just passing through when Gai and the others spotted them. Or maybe they were out to assassinate the hokage. Don't think we will know at least until the Anime gets to this point and they make a filler out of it (which is most likely)

Try not to overthink the flashback.

Plus I don't think they would send anyone to murder Minato, didn't Iwagakure recall a entire platoon because he was spotted near them?

Personally though I think the only weird thing about it would be the fact that the Seven Ninja Swordsmen would've been backup for the Anbu, which I find hilarious. I mean I guess a team of Anbu would've been perfectly capable of the role they had been assigned had Obito not shown up. But either way, the rest of the theory makes perfect sense, nice observation, +rep.

I was thinking that the Swordsmen were actually supposed to start a distraction in the Village, while Rin is sneaked in while no one's paying attention, the BOOM, out comes the Three-Tails.

Should I mirror your response to my thread and say something like "people change clothes dude". It isn't a bad hypothesis. Having all together would indicate a major effort of some kind was underway.

The wheels are slowly starting to turn as people consider that once again Kirigakure is playing a strange role.
