Mig, which is essentially the same as learning nothing -_- lol

jk, Mig's cool but we didn't get anywhere really, he just had me swing my sword a few times in each hand as the warm up. We didn't discuss any jutsu or application of ken

.-. I want to cut ish up!
_________

But on the real, I want to learn Kenjutsu because I've always been fascinated with the sword and sword arts. Not just here on NB but in general. I like Kendo, Iiado, and Zero is my favorite Megaman character...or maybe Bass it's very close between those two. The Megaman Zero series of games and the Megaman X games were amazing and Zero was just a baws in all of them. The Zero series though had a heavier fantasy aspect in there which surprisngly went well with the whole Si-fi deal. Same as with Megaman ZX. Bass is just a badass mofo who is just the antichrist/bringer of destruction and you can't not love him...less you're Keotsu apprently. But I digress I like swords o_O

"Now, before we begin I'd like to know if you have any prior experience in Kenjutsu, and what type of sword do you prefer? Katana, Longsword, Nodochi, etc? It doesn't necessarily matter as this training is pretty universal, but different swords will have a different impact on the way you fight."

(If you've had no experience, you don't have to answer if you haven't had any prior experience).

Single handed slashes and strikes seem, to me, to be more orriented for speed and more versitile movement. With one hand on the blade, you can move it more freely provided you have mastered the weight of the blade.

Two handed slashes seem to be for more power based, hacking threw flesh, breaking armor or one's defense. Reason would be due to the reinforcement of the blade with the second hand. Using both hands you have more power than you would with just one hand. I suppose, since you could move the blade with two hands just as well as with one hand, you'd get a sizeable amount of speed as well, however when I think of two handed anything, I feel it's more focused and generates more power

Well, the one handed slash does have less power for obvious reasons, but not speed. That is more or less determined by the weight of the weapon you are holding. The two handed slash is faster because of more power it increases it's speed.

The key difference is that the one handed slash will allow you to "reset" quicker than a two handed slash. You can slash/attack and then defend quickly if they counter.

The two handed slash, gives you more power, accuracy and control, though leaves you open longer and not able to react as fast as the one handed slash.

get it?

Ahh, well that makes sense. Especially considering that, now that I think about it, the weight of the blade would theoretically be easier to control and maneuver with two hands rather than one so it makes it faster.

I get it.

I bring the sheathe of my blade down to my left hip while placing my right hand on the handle of the blade. Keeping my left hand on the sheath to keep it steady, I quickly draw the blade from the sheath with my right hand, swinging it in a horizontal manor as I release the blade, single handedly.

Is that sufficient? .-.
